Excuse my noobyness, but what exactly are the main uses of ISXIM. For isntance, is it primarily so you can use your IM client in the game or is it more for remote control over the ISX client. Another way of stating this would be: What do you all use the client for?
I use ISXEQ2 and am curious if this could be used as a method to send messages to and from my various clients. Again, sorry for the basic nature of my question, I am just somewhat confused at what the advantages of this program are. If I am understanding it correctly, it looks like something quite powerful that I would be interested in utilizing, but wanted to get my feet wet before I dive in over my head. |

The primary use for this is for relaying chat between the game and you, or for monitoring bot behavior (logging to irc, for example) without watching the game window. Sending a yahoo message when a private message is received ingame, etc.

You can use it with an appropriate script to IM in game.
You can also use it with an appropriate script to "control the ISX client", as you stated it. You can also use relay and/or the uplink to communicate between IS sessions. |

You are idling in game waiting for a raid to start.
You: "Hey Cybertech, send me a tell when the raid is about to start" [start script] Cybertech sends you a tell, it gets forwarded as a Yahoo IM. Your cell phone or computer utilizes it and notifies you so you can return to the game. ---------------------- Once file transfer service is finished you could even write a script that would take a screenshot and send it to you in an IM (which could, again, go to your cell phone.) ----------------------- Once other protocols are added (like MSN/Googletalk/etc.) you can do even more of this. ----------------------- You could write a script that would respond to various things that you send to the character via IM. For example, your toon could IM you to let you konw that you received a tell (along with the text of that tell). ..then, if you want, you could send a PM back to the toon that would have them send a tell back and then log off, etc. |

What I'd like to do is develop a program for the ipad/iphone with a split view controller. Your characters on the left side, select one and in the pane on the right I envison it showing you health/power, zone, other people nearby, scripts running. Maybe even let you end or run scripts via the ipad/iphone. It'd be a good learning opportunity to learn iphone/ipad programming as well since it'd involve UI, processing dynamic data, and multiple views. |
