Autoassist UI issue

Have an issue where after setting up an assist using the Autoassist UI, in the middle of a fight, some of my toons (and I believe it was always healers) stop assisting. This is making my ability to participate in the UD X4 Malteor fight a bit problematic, since I am unable to consistently kill the elemental that spawns.

I checked the wiki, and didn't see a lot about this feature. For the toons exhibiting this problem, here is how I have set all the features that appear to affect auto assist:

1) On the Settings tab, Auto Assist is checked, Dynamic Assist is not checked, Auto Target when Hated is not checked
2) On the Assist tab, there is one assist defined (Tank) that is different than the toon I specify using the Autoassist UI
3) On the Auto Target tab, Enable Auto Target is not checked
4) On the Auto Hunt tab, nothing is checked

Please enlighten me if I have missed something or am misunderstanding how to use this feature correctly.

If this is just about the malteor fight, there's no need to target anything other than malteor. Using raid options, the character with the detrimental will automatically target the elemental, kill it, and click off debuff. Also need to be sure ignore npc hp is checked.
