Ideas on Drels?

I'm really struggling on Drels in ST:U, and I think it's because of debuffs.

Basic encounter:
  • one named who every 30 seconds casts a powerful incurable elemental detriment
  • three easy adds who need to not be frontalling the raid
  • a Sorc add who can only be tanked and DPSed by mages
  • an Assassin add who can only be tanked and DPSed by scouts.
Things I'm doing well:
  • dps'ing the sorc
  • dps'ing the three easy adds
  • surviving the incurable elemental if the MOB is debuffed

Things I'm not doing well:
  • dps'ing the assassin while keeping the named debuffed
  • surviving the incurable elemental if the MOB isn't debuffed
Observed problems:
  • I run with 3 groups. Group 1 is MT group, and Groups 2 and 3 are mage groups. That means I only have 4 scouts: 1 assassin in G1, and 3 bards.
  • The scouts do ok against the assassin when they're on him full-time.
  • If the scouts are on the assassin full-time, then they aren't debuffing the named
  • If the named isnt debuffed, the incurable elemental kills even the hardiest of raid members
  • The named drops all his debuffs every minute or so
I guess my question is how do I teach the scouts to DPS on the assassin and reapply debuffs on the named when they fall? Because otherwise I'm not really surviving the encounter. Perhaps there's a novel way to setup the geography of what group is where (proximity to the named directly affects how hard you are hit by the detriment). I just worry about the curse cures, since they have a 20m range for most.

Any and all thoughts welcome.

Are you running Noxious Symphony for the fight? 5 points in the Dirge tree for the added ward? As for the debuffing, you could always switchover to one the the bards and cast the debuffs or maybe turn off raid options for one of them (not sure if this will work). If nothing else you could just simply put Drels in the auto target tab for one of them so hes always got them maintained.

As you can see from my post, I'm thinking about the detriment wrong. It's not an elemental; it's a nox. So your comment about Noxious Symphony (and Nox ward) is something I never put together because I was mixing green and yellow up. So I'll try that tonight (and tonight I'll put down the right flag; I put down elemental flag last time). And yes, I'll take your suggestion and put one of the bards on auto-target so he's always debuffed by at least one bard.

Thanks!

Yeah, 1 Defiler and 2 Mystics for the 3 groups. I was pretty sure I had Prophetic Ward on the priority list. I don't have it "maintained" anymore, as I was taught recently to remove "maintained" from shaman wards so that they could re-cast them every time they're up for a refresh on the amount-left-that-can-be-warded. When I get home from work, I'll check again and make sure they have Prophetic Ward going non-stop and have the appropriate AA for it.
