PC Advice Requested :)

Hello all,

I'm an avid eq2 player, been playing since launch in one form or another, started 2 boxing long enough ago to have the vet house on both my 'main' accounts. I've only been with ISX and Ogre for around a year and a half in which time I've added a 3rd account, then a 4th 5th and 6th. The trouble is that I can only run 3 accounts at a time! What I am looking for is some advice on what to buy component-wise as I want to get the full benefit of my 6 gold subbed accounts, and of the splendid IS/Ogre set-up.

I've got a lot of financial commitments, and limited tech knowledge, so the criteria for any help would be - budget budget budget.

What I am after if possible is the cheapest way to make my system eq2 6 boxing calibre! I also would welcome any recommendations of the best places to buy the gear I will need.

My current machine is:

MS Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3.
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Deneb 45nm Technology
4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. M4A785TD-V EVO (AM3)
PLE430 (1280x1024@60Hz) 1024MB ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner)
1465GB SAMSUNG SAMSUNG HD154UI (SATA)

Now I have had some advice - been told to get windows 7 64 bit and 16GB of RAM - which seems fairly cheap - but also been suggested I need a better processor.

I have no idea if I will need to upgrade other elements in order to handle 16GB ram either or any other potential issues.

Any help much appreciated!

P.

Your MB should be ok but you should upgrade your processor and ram as this will affect play with eq2 the most will need win7 64bit for more than 4 gigs of ram.

Your processor isn't really that bad. EQ2 is really CPU intensive, however, so upgrade if you can afford it. The 965 would be a minor speed upgrade, but not really worth the money. The 1100T is a six-core that would be nice for what you want, but fairly expensive (That Frys link above is a great price).

As already stated, memory and OS would be a better investment. The graphics card is showing its age... Even though EQ2 isn't awfully GPU bound, an upgrade there would do you good. Even the Radeon 6570 would be a nice upgrade for you, and fairly cheap.
