First Offense is typically a suspension, not a banning. When you attempt to log in, does it tell you "This account is Suspended" or does it say something like "This account is Banned" or "This account doesnt exist"?. You may want to call SoE Customer support and find out the details. They won't be able to re-activate your account early if its a week suspension, but they can tell you if/when your account will be re-instated. A few of my guildies have gotten suspensions in the past. Each time they called SoE to get the details. The operators should give you the reason why the account was suspended/banned. Typically the GM puts the reason for the suspension in a comment on your account. They will also help you cancel your account over the phone if its suspended and you wish to do so.. (Honestly their system is jacked up. You HAVE to call if you wish to cancel your account when its suspended, because you cant even log into the SoE website to do it yourself).

However, to answer your question of "Is there any way to reverse a ban on an account?" the short answer is no. If the account has indeed been perma-banned, then its locked to SoE and can never be re-opened. You would need to purchase a new copy of the game, create a new User Account on the SoE site, and start from scratch.

If its truly your first offense, I think its just a suspension. Hell, we have one guildmate who's been suspended multiple times for AFK crafting. First time was 3 days, then its always 7 days long. They have yet to ban his account. I'm pretty sure Vanguard needs as many paying customers as they can get..

Hope it all works out for you.

Well I just got a message from a GM saying I have shown up in his logs 311 times and my first one is going to be a 7 day suspension.

So just fyi they are monitoring. I thought they weren't really watching with the low population and all. Kinda funny you could get away with more in eq1 then in vg

Wonder if you keep it below bard speed if you still would show up in the logs or not.

I got suspended this morning...watch out! I have AFK botted over 2K hours (probably way more)...so it was only a matter of time before I was caught. Interestingly, I logged in, went to get ready for work, then came back (20 min later max) and I was suspended. I think the way they got me was by "zoning" through about 15 chunks in a little over 2 minutes (999 run speed on a griffin) OR I was caught some other time and just now suspended OR (and I hate to even bring this up) they have implemented new detection software within the past week or 2.

I am not in anyway complaining, just letting everyone else know...

Worth passing along. I called the support line and they tracked numerous (1K+) warps in the past month, which is why I was suspended.

Just FYI.

suspended twice

i used a speed hack to run from Ahgram to Craigwind to do some botting, set up my bots, was doing fine when i came home from work for lunch, and when i got off of work i came home, and both accounts that i was botting were suspended. I wonder weather it was the speed hacking, or the botting, or weather they have an Innerspace detection system.... anyhow, thats my good news.

yes, bevor they shut off my both Vg accounts the GM Ichi told me i have using speed hack and over 100 times teleport hack in the past month... im 100% sure never was any player around when i teleport hacket. (never used it in PVP)

still wonder my main account without any suspention or marks got perma banned...

im still in contact with SOE while i feel not fair handle.

This is true guys, They are watching for speed hacks heavily. They are watching many of the pre-set coordinates in the popular 3rd party hack program called vg buddy as well as any large scale warping such as 1k etc.. they also watch your run speed and match it to your level. I had some long discussions w/a dev about hackers etc that ended up w/ an emphasis on heavy crack down / monitoring of hackers etc.

As far as botting goes, don't use any speed alterations. The only real method of getting suspended / banned is being player submitted for botting.

Just some words of advice / wisdom! keep it safe.

How many of you banned were ONLY using isxvg/innerspace? I'm getting reports of a lot of people that were using ONLY isxvg extensively and never got banned, while people that were using other shit (like vgbuddy) were banned.

So fess up ....I'll believe you if you say it. But for those that were banned, were you ONLY using isxvg?

I was only using ISXVG. I never heard of these other things you mentioned.

Only things I ever use(d) was VGCraftBot, the run speed part, and the warp at times when I was in a hurry to get somewhere.

I called in and was told it was because of the warping. I fully admitted to it (no sense in trying to lie about it IMO) and was told I had a 7 day ban. I can play again on the 21st.

Ok cool, that's all I needed to know. I just wanted to verify.

They're obviously doing some packet stuff to verify legit ports and stuff -- wouldn't be hard to do really. ISXVG is insanely easy to hack, so they really have no choice if they want to keep the game alive.

I AM still convinced though that Me:Sprint would not cause a ban ...though, Afterburner probably would. Me:Sprint does not take you faster than a bard can run.

I suppose it was only a matter of time before they took the very simple step of putting in server-side checks that cannot be taken into account by ISXVG.

However, I do feel very confident that it was not ISXVG that caused the crack down as I have placed in quite a few limitations that make it difficult to majorly exploit the hacks. The problem was in things like Chromosome 47 (or whatever that was called) and programs like vgbuddy. Basically, the problem is that Vanguard is extremely easy to hack, so those programs simply went too far and did not anticipate the consequences. The game of cat and mouse that folks like myself and companies like SOE play is a tenuous one: there has to be mutual respect. And, programs like VGBuddy and others like it show NO respect towards the game or the game company.

Therefore, I will be temporarily removing all 'speed'/'warp'/etc benefits from ISXVG. It may be that in a while, when everything has blown over, I will re-add them with a big, fat WARNING.

Fortunately, this is a very small part of ISXVG and does not diminish the quality or usefulness of the product. As far as I can ascertain, they are only checking for specific warp and speed hacks and are still relying upon player reports for everything else (similar to what Kryxx reported above.) I will do what I can, over the next month or so, to come up with more features that will hopefully offset the loss of these 'benefits'; however, this is the best that I can do for now since the "checks" that SOE is using are server-based and out of my control.

----------------------------------

NOTE: If you are someone that uses "throw-away" accounts (ie, with game cards) and do not mind the chance of being banned, you can send me an email at amadeusmq@yahoo.com (be sure that you include your paypal email account and I will consider giving you access to the benefits that I am removing.

I think I finally have discovered why people were banned.

The "Sprint" method of the character datatype (the method that kbot uses for you to set speed) was only intended to take arguments from 1-100. In other words, using 100 would be 100% of the max "sprint speed" that ISXVG would allow you to set ...which is about the run speed of a good bard.

What I think people were doing was putting in numbers higher than 100 ...maybe a LOT higher than 100, which would obviously catch the attention of GMs, etc.

Anyway, it's fixed now and the command is working as intended. Sprint was intended to be a way for regular users to run at bard speed. Afterburner was intended to be the short term 'burst' speed you might need in an emergency.

Code:
April 27, 2009 -- By Amadeus
[ISXVG-20090401.0023]
* Fixed a bug with the "Sprint" METHOD of the 'character' datatype that was allowing users to select a sprint
'percentage' greater than 100. This was never intended and explains why people were being banned using it.
100% of the isxvg version of 'Sprint' should be the approximate speed of a bard and is as fast as I intended
for people to be able to run with isxvg.
