this might be in an old thread already posted but my beastlord during almost every fight ends up targeting himself and stops casting.

Check his caststack. He likely has an item that is labeled 'Combat' with '@Me' or his name. This tells the bot it has to target itself to cast it.
On the 'AutoTarget' tab, if you have '[x] Enable Auto Target' checked, it won't re-assist.

I'd change both of them.
