First Time Harvest Setup

FIrst of all, thanks for an awesome program. I have barely touched the tip of the iceberg with it, and it is great. Thanks so much.

Anyway, I am having problems setting up the harvester for the first time. I am using it in a zone which is grey, so aggro and wander distance isnt an issue.

I run eq2 pather as in the guide, and do as it says and get start and finish points.

When I run it from start to finish it starts to run, and then says the following nodes will be harvested, then however it doesnt list anything to be harvested.

My first experience my toon took off running and actually ran into a wall, and didnt stop to harvest anything.

Anyhelp anyone could give me would be great.

I did notice in the guide it says to download the harvest files, but there is no link for them?

Also, I dont have anything to view/edit xml files? Might that be an issue?

Thanks again

Well, i am no expert on the harvesting scripts, but i have gotten my harvesting setup down well enough.

forgive me if i go over something too trivial.

What i found is that using the "run eq2harvestpath" command works better than the "run eq2pather". My usual way to start a path for harvesting is to type "run eq2harvestpath auto 10". press f5 to delete any pre existing path. Then press f2 and name it "START".... run a bunch and press f2 when your done and name that "FINISH". you can make any named points between these 2 but you must have the start and finish or the harvest wont load.

The eq2harvestpath command automatically puts your xml in the correct place, and theres no need to mess around with it.

once you have a path type "run eq2harvest". and you should see the harvesting gui.

Some tips:
-Don't make your range too large, i usually stay around 60 in open zones 40 in others. Id rather miss nodes than get stuck.
-Always keep eq2 on top of every window if you run in windowed mode. it has me run in circles or into walls if i get a pop up, and then you'll have to close the script and re open it again. you can pause the script then switch windows if necessary, but you'll need to wait till your toon is harvesting a node before he will actualy pause.
-Some people auto 2 when creating a path, but i don't know the benefit accept to look more fluent while botting. I cant seem to remember why i choose 10 for my lucky number......

heres a link to some files if you need it : DL the eq2harvestpath.iss and eq2harvest.iss and put them in your scripts folder http://www.isxgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110&highlight=eq2harvestpath

hope that helps a little.

Thanks, for the tips. Those must be the files im missing, hence the lack of nodes being reconized. I dont have time tonight to try this again, but I will certainly try again after work!

Thanks again for your quick response, and detailed one at that.

Running into wall behavior is *usually* cause you have your movement keys are not set to the defaults in the script.

Also it used to be true that running in 3rd person causes this. I think that was fixed, but I never use 3rd person, so I can't really say. I'll wager that the first is your issue.

I believe harvest uses: wads as well as straffe on qe. I think it also uses autorun 'numlock'. Thats all from memory, so certainly check the file to be sure.

Keep in mind that not all the node names are listed in the script..

I had to load the Tier 1 node names for the n00b zone I was in to test it..

Which zone are you trying to harvest? Verify that it contains the info in the InnerSpace\Scripts\EQ2Harvest\Harvest Config\Harvest.xml file

Example:
Code:
               <Set Name="fprt_adv04_ruins">
		<Setting Name="1">rugged ore</Setting>
		<Setting Name="2">rustic stone</Setting>
		<Setting Name="3">gangly arbor</Setting>
		<Setting Name="4">pale roots</Setting>
		<Setting Name="5">creature den</Setting>
		<Setting Name="6">ravaged nature garden</Setting>
		<Setting Name="8">crowd of fish</Setting>
	</Set>
I had to add to the file..

Alright, I tried this again both with the old files, and tried to put in the files from the link you provided me.

I went to the commonlands to try it again since its a zone that has its nodes listed in the harvest file.

I went around, named my first point start, and my last point finish. I saved the files then checked my navigational paths and sure enough, my paths are there.

I then exited eq2harvestpather, and did "run eq2havest start finish"

Then it says

The following Nodes will be harvested...
There was no valid path found!
Check ./XML/EQ2Navigation_commonlands.xml that it includes a Start and End Point

Now what i noticed is that isnt even the path where my list is saved. Its in scripts/eq2harvest/navigational paths/commondlands. I still dont understand why it says no nodes will be harvested either.

In addition I dont see the file where I should edit my walking commands, I checked the harvest and config files and I dont see it. The harvest files just seem to have the node names, and bot police options and such.

I hope I am not being a pain, I just am really trying to get this setup but it wont work. If someone would be willing we could talk on msn or via private messages. I would be willing to compensate anyone who would loan me some time and help get me set up.

Thanks.

On a limb i moved the file into the XML folder, then ran the harvester again and the bot opened, so it seems to be working now.

I still dont however see the file to change walking commands.

Thanks guys.

if by "walking commands" you mean "keyboard configuration" they are located in the eq2harvest.iss right near the beginning 20 lines down.

Yeah, thats what I was refering to, but it seems to be working w/out changing them.

I did have a problem trying to harvest a zone thats not listed with presets. I made the path and copied ferrotts node list, and replaced the node names but for some reason the bot didnt stop to harvest.

Is there a specific configuration one needs to maintain when adding new zones/nodes?

First off...

I'm not going to support people running out dated versions of scripts.

For the what i hope is the final time, you do not run ANY pather script for harvest, you run harvest and use the navigation tab in the script.

Movement keys are defined in moveto.iss, if your keys or your keyboard language is anything different from default (or hell what was default when I installed the game), then you will need to either remap your keys or edit moveto.iss

Before posting ANY movement related bug, or request for support verify the following:

1. You are running the latest versions of the scripts
2. You have checked your movement keys and moveto.iss
3. You have verified the behavior exists in both 1st and 3rd person view

If you still have movement problems, with those 3 things being done, then please write out as descriptively as possible what is happening, what steps you've taken, and if it is repeatable 100% or not.

I had to add to the file..

Hm, this is helping me very much, I have a similiar issue, but I am trying to harvest in Butcherblock mountains, and I have seen in some of these lines, for example:

Code:
	</Set>
	<Set Name="steppes">
		<Setting Name="1">stonecrest ore</Setting>
		<Setting Name="2">wind swept stones</Setting>
		<Setting Name="3">felled high plains arbor</Setting>
		<Setting Name="4">mesquite catch weed</Setting>
		<Setting Name="5">beast den</Setting>
		<Setting Name="6">high plains shrubbery</Setting>
		<Setting Name="7">mob of fish</Setting>

Obviously enough, this is for the zone "The Thundering Steppes".

now, how would I know what to name butcherblock?

edit: sorry if I am bumping an old post

It's sad to see that Pygar decided to delete his nav paths he committed almost 2 years ago. I'm curious why he did this? I guess he doesn't feel like sharing with the community now?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...HA

If he didnt feel like sharing he would take down the entire eq2harvest, eq2bot, and serveral other scripts..

Really though, EQ2harvest has been depreciated for years. It needs to die, or be rewritten, or something.

Code:
[14:23] EmptyInvBags: ok
[14:24] EmptyInvBags: just so you know...
[14:24] EmptyInvBags: what ive always been told to do...
[14:24] EmptyInvBags: was in the eq2harvest folder..
[14:25] EmptyInvBags: go into navpaths, right click on whatever zone is there in the xml files, and choose svn update
[14:25] PygarWork: well, you were told wrong
[14:25] PygarWork: in fact, I'm going to go remove all those files right now
[14:26] EmptyInvBags: how can u remove from my machine? lol
[14:26] PygarWork: I'm removing them from the svn
[14:26] PygarWork: such that no one else is ever told to follow the same wrong instructions
As of a very long time ago these files have not been supported. And its always a smart thing to just use your own paths anyways. Do you really like being identified by other players because the recognize your harvest path? I dont.

EDIT: Awesome first post btw...

So I guess the new instruction is right click the folder, Tortoise SVN, Update to Revision, Show Log, 2064. Then you get the deleted files back...

If EQ2Harvest is depreciated is there something better now?

Anyway, it just seems like a knee jerk reaction to me. If people want to be identified for a path that's their problem.

No you just don't be lazy and create your own paths peroid. Personally I'm glad that they were removes as when I did a svn merge I always had to manually exclude that folder so it wouldn't overwrite my personal paths.

Seriously it takes like 10 minutes to make a path file tops and that's only if you are making a really big one.

As already stated, these navigation files were removed to prevent mis-information on how to setup and use the scripts.

I left enchanted lands in there as the defacto test navigation file.

First time users can go to EL, jump off the docks, and run eq2harvest to verify thier movement settings are configured properly.

To harvest anywhere else, they'll need to learn how to create a path file, either using the support encapsulated method in the eq2harvest UI, or using one of the unsupported workaround methods.

I'm very tired of support questions based upon assumptions made on bad data.

I personally don't recommend running this script, I feel its the absolute best way to get your account banned. If it was up to me, it would be permanently removed from the script archives.

I agree with those paths are a real giveaway , i've spotted people using the script many times , the real giveaway is the turning points , it's also the main reason I wrote my Goharvest script.
