General fighting question

I hit a point in Chardok where the Sarnaks are fighting droags near the Hall of Clay and my characters will react to that fight like my own group is under attack, i.e. racing in to combat the mobs as they are scouts and getting themselves killed very quickly.
Is this happening to anyone else? Is there a way beyond turning eq2bot off to get around it?

In addition my scouts when attempting to get around the mob to backstab will run around in a huge circle agroing a lot of extra mobs in the room usually killing themself and potentially the rest of the party. Any thoughts on how to reduce that circle or is there a way to use my tank to face the mob the correct way?

Thank you for your help

I have to agree that I'm not thrilled with the new pathing for melee. Scouts make this HUGE circle trying to get behind the mob, it's so obvious that it's a bot program that I don't even dare run it anymore in open zones. Is there a way that I can revert back to the old pathing routines?

The bot uses strafe arc's to move front to flank to rear positioning. It will not arc unless they are in melee attack range.

That is the run up to whatever is melee attack range then strafe to desired angle to mob. I've been running the dirge daily, and I only see a wide arc on mobs that have a very large hit box (vp mobs as a good example).

I need to know specific class and specific mob to do any further tweaking. But in observing my dirge in TSO the past week, it has moved exactly how I would anticipate it to and no longer repositions excessively.

I still see this activity on my troub and assasin. It is so bad that they constantly fall off platforms in certain dungeons and instances. If there is a way to keep them closer to the mob when they make these positional changes, it would be very much appreciated.

Usually it works fine, but sometimes...ya, like that's not a bot.

Roots, cliffs, bridges...get near something and one or both are like lemmings.

Anyway, I love autospin, but I'm turning on no automovement more and more and using my scouts less and less cause of it.

Learn to position better IMO. If you place the mob's ass hanging over a cliff, they're going to run off it regardless.

I see an issue fighting say a giant (huge hit box) while on a very narrow bridge. i'm not sure what if anything I'll do about it. I simply position it properly with the tank and it's no longer an issue.

Pygar, I really respect you, and I have to believe you are not seeing what we are describing for our scouts on your dirge. I've seen them circle/position at probably 15-20m for mobs that do not have large hitboxes. I pet pull mobs in Forge all the way to the very first starting platform, and watch my assasin move off that platform and fall into the lava. I'm sure if you watched that happen you would agree that it makes botting them in certain situations very problematic. I've been hoping there was some combination (aside from no movement or range only) of options I could find to prevent that movement, so I would appreciate any advice you can give us to help out.

Thanks for listening.

Templar/Inquisitor don't have any, but you might be right about scouts...anyway, posting about an issue seemed to get a little bit of a hostile response so I'll fix mine and drop it.

Pygar, like many coders, gets tired of hearing the "your shit is busted" line without anything to back it up, or any details on why it may possibly be busted or how to duplicate the problem.

This shouldn't deter you from posting about problems, but should instead encourage you to think about what, exactly, is causing it to go haywire. Obviously it's not going haywire for him, what might you be doing differently?
What settings do you have checked in your bot, etc?
What is the status text in eq2bot when it runs itself off the cliff?
Any spam in the console when it happens?

Things like that can be incredibly helpful when trying to figure bugs like this out.

I've seen this action as well with the large strafing arc, but if you turn the mobs, or run through them to turn, my Mystic will just run up to its back and start wailing without much issue.

BTW, I recently resubscribed to isx, and want to say I appreciate the hard work that went into the illusionist and mystic lines, they are a thousand times better than they were a year or two ago!

I get this issue with my Brigand alot and very rarely with my dirge.........could it have something to do with the fact that the brigand has to be behind for some abilities and in front for others?. This happens with every type of mob I have tried it with, I have been in SoS and Nest of the great egg. The positioning of mobs is spot on as my main is a raid MT and I pride myself in my postioning. There also seems nothing untoward in the console window..........starffing left, strafing right etc is what shows while this is happening.

If you need more information on what is happening, please ask, and again thanks for a top notch program!

Hello again, just wondering if anyone has figured out what may be causing these big circles, or if it is just a few isolated cases that doesn't affect the majority of users? I have tried adjusting every setting in eq2bot, but nothing seems to cure it, getting aggro is not a problem, as my mentored tank has m1 and m2 taunts, myth and fabled gear and churns up more dps that the shaman and brigand combined.

if more info is needed, tell me what I can do and I will do it.

again thanks

I think ${Position.GetMeleeMaxRange[${TID}]}, which is super-neato, gets from the game what the max attack range from a mob is. Unfortunately, I think it's freakishly big...at least for some mobs. You could try replacing the instances of that with 5 or something I suppose and see if it'll help you out.

It's in CheckPosition quite a bit and maybe elsewhere.

Worst case, if you bust the script, the SVN always has a fresh copy =)
