I plan on making something of the following, and looking at how in-depth I should go based on how many people are interested. Here is the general idea. Keep in mind, this is all in theory, so the concept/options may change based on development and feedback.
Current issue:
While running zones, a piece of loot drops you want for one of your many alts, on one of your many accounts. But you can't recall who has what. So you either log to your alts to check, guess, or keep track (via paper, excel, etc).
Proposed solution:
You will load an UI (User Interface) in-game, where you can manage a list of toons, and what gear they have.
Additional Possible Options:
The database will be automatically updated when you examine an item. So when a chest drops, and you examine the items, if they aren't in your list, they will be automatically added.
When viewing what items a character has, doing something (double clicking?) the item will examine it for you to show you what the item is.
Text representation of the item stats.
Example:
Weapon 1: 100 dmg rating, 3 crit, 2 crit bonus
Weapon 2: 125 dmg rating, 10 crit, 10 crit bonus
When an item is looted, give you the option to automatically add it to that characters profile, or a dropdown to add it to another character on that account (would make use of eq2chars.inc so it would only list toons on that account).
"Best gear" options. You can fill out what items you are working towards, so you can quickly see if you have the best gear (in your opinion, which may be based on what you are able to obtain, not necessarily the BEST in the game).
Color coding when you have the best.
That is the basics of what I have in my head.
What I'm looking for, is how many people would use something like this, and I'm looking for other options people would want. It's much easier to develop something like this knowing what is all needed, than to have to recode entire sections to make other things possible.
