Is it worth coming back to EQ2?

Was reminiscing about the good old days and thinkin' of re-subbing. Last time I played was about a year and a half ago, skyshrine had just been released, I think it was. Is it worth coming back, what do you all think? My accounts all would need to have CoE purchased, I think I'd probably leave 4 of them as silver accounts but not sure :\. So much $$ to buy the expansions and the $15/mo for 6 chars.

I had 6 accounts and ran: Guardian (or Monk)/Mystic/Inq/Necromancer/Illy/Troub. I quit right after skyshrine stuff came out as I wasn't impressed w/the content lol. My gear was decent but not amazing, I was able to one group clear the drunder x2 and such by myself (at level 90 before the skyshrine stuff). I got all my guys to level 92 and then that was the last time I logged in. They are all AA capped (the monk might still be level 90, but whatever).

Is it worth coming back, what do you all think? Is it possible to gear up nicely from doing heroic stuff, without having to purchase SLR from other people's raids? Ie, anything fun like the drunder heroic zones, progression wise? Or is there a massive gear gap between the raid gear and everything else that makes it pointless if you can't run a 12 man bot group? I used to have a friend that ran a bot group that I'd group up with and do some x4 stuff with (and made the x2s fly by) but he quit around the same time. I'm on crushbone by the way.

Well.. this question is posed to people who ARE playing the game... So you have two answers: from the people playing and having fun, the answer is yes. From the people playing and not having fun, the answer is no (however... they are still playing, merely complaining about not having fun).

You've never had to take part in SLR, you could always 'gear up nicely' without it. Can you 'gear up to the best possible gear without raiding and using SLR'? Then of course not.

I personally enjoy not having to rely on other people, and really enjoy the game because I can bot. Having said that, it sounds like you've already made up your mind and done the research, so welcome back.

You can now by gold subs ingame from an item called Krono, they average between 750-1k plat on most servers. So for 4.5-6k plat a month you can save $60 a month.
Also something to consider I guess, new expansion comes out around October 15th, so if its going to take you a while to get the money for CoE x6, you May be better off waiting, otherwise you'd need CoE + New Expac.

As for content, with 1 group, there is currently A choice of about 9 instances, 4 with "hard mode" options. Although only 1 is really a proper challenge. However, with 1 group, you can also clear a good amount of EM raid content with it. Or if you pair up with a second person boxing a group, you can clear all EM content with 2 groups.

You don't have to buy loot rights from people, but it 'can' save you a lot of time. Especially as solo zones drop semi decent raid trash loot, often for like 50-100p a piece, which can be helpful for gearing up quick.

Gear gap between gear isn't huge at all: Heroic Steward Dagger Vs EM Raid dropped Dagger. The main difference is raid gear has red slots (+ Yellow on Armor), where as Heroic gear is only yellow slots.

Awesome, that isn't too bad. Well, I will dust off the old i5 and 6970 and put the second PC together this weekend and start up ye old ogre sub and start optimizin' the old spell rotations and such. Thanks guys! ^_^ Once I get up and running and everyone to 95 I might be back to try to track down another person that runs an ogre group on crushbone. Thanks! :)

And man, that 150 SC for 5 unlocks eq2wire was talking about today really makes going silver on 3-4 of the dudes a no brainer, wow. My guys all have a ton of SC sitting around. Thanks again ^_^
