Just saying Hi

Hey everyone, just dropping in to say hello. Didn't realise this was already in the works during beta or I would've been here sooner, but playing on the preorder right now. I signed up and got IS and downloaded the extension for VG and look forward to working on some scripts for VG.

I am wondering though, I havn't really dove into the coding yet but looking at a couple of the script examples it looks almost identical to the script coding used in MQ2, is this true? Also what about plugins? Are they possible, have to be done in C++, etc?

I didn't really make a known pressence in the MQ community but I did work on quite a few scripts for me and my friends over there. Anyone that played DAOC back in the old days and used XUnleashed may remember me though. I used the same name back then and wrote quite a few plugins and scripts. It used VBScript though so was somewhat easier for me since I've been a VB programmer for over 10 years. I contributed to the core Xunleashed program, still have my lifetime membership with them due to this hehe, with a few functions and look forward to contributing at least scripts to this community.

Is anyone already working on a Map plugin or already plan to? I saw in some of the patch notes about a Radar but havn't tested it yet to see exactly what purpose it serves. I'm on the FFA PVP server so an actual Map on there with players would prove very usefull.

Anyway, post here, private message me or email me at zimbul6282@yahoo.com if yout like, I'm gonna start working on some things as soon as I get everything figured out :)

I wouldn't get too used to anything on the PVP servers. I personally am against PVP from a philosophical standpoint, so I tend to disable any features of ISXVG that would prove beneficial on a PVP server.

ISXVG and ALL of my products are designed for PVE. I believe PVP in mmorpgs is lame as hell, and have no interest in supporting it.

Thats kind of disheartening to hear. Me and a group of my friends decided on the FFA PvP server to be our home and I dont think we'd switch to a PVE server, Team PVP Is the only other choice for us. I'm not your average FFA PVPer that you'd be use to hearing from, I don't have a problem with anyone playing with whatever playstyle they wish, if PVE is your thing then more power to you.

But would you really want to limit your program from someone that is willing to contribute more than just PVP scripts merely because you don't like PVP?

I just find PVE to boring in the long run.. once you've seen everything there is nothing else to do other than a continous grind of killing the same stuff over and over with no challenge. But like I said thats just my playstyle.

How about a mutual agreement, you don't remove any of the stuff I find usefull in PVP Scripts (Pawn XYZ, direction, health, target, class, level, guild, and more), and I won't actively advertise or post any of my PVP based scripts on the website? I'll only contribute any PVE scripts that I create.

If you are truley that against PVP and don't even want me around, I can't say I understand, but I'll oblige you.. I'll just have to write my own interface in Xunleashed to pull the data out that I need where as here you have already done a wonderful job at that. I tend to not try and reinvent the wheel where possible.
