major bug in Drunder HM

Raiding Tallons HM, and anytime we fight trash, or adds of named (like in boss fight #2 vs. Lt. Klaatuus), the frame rate drops to near zero. Total slide show. As soon as trash is dead, the frame rate goes back to normal. As soon as the boss's adds die, the frame rate goes back to normal.

When we shut off ISXEQ2, the frame rate problem goes away, hence my post here.

I've never reported a bug before, so not sure what I should provide.

Please advise, and thank you.

(All of Drunder HM is about to be completely re-itemized, making it *the* destination for raid forces [not yet in POW], so this bug is fairly significant to a large portion of active EQ2 raid forces, in my opinion. The re-itemization happens in July with GU64.)

Does it happen when no bot is loaded? If it only happens when a bot is loaded, which one?

It happens with Ogre Combat loaded. It stopped for me when I turned off Ogre Combat. I thought I had unloaded ISX completely when I posted this, but afterwards, figured out I did not.

You start fighting a named that has adds. While the adds are alive, you're lagging really bad. When they die, you stop lagging (but still fighting the named)? Is that correct?

I haven't done drunder in probably a month now, but when I did it (full bot raid), we had no latency issues at all.

How many sessions are you running per computer, and what is your CPU speed/type? (amd/i7 etc).

When I have time, I'll take a raid there to see if I can reproduce it.

This just started about 2 or 3 weeks ago. It was fine until a recent patch (whose patch? no idea).

This isn't me. It's a full raid force, a bunch of whom are running Ogre. We noticed the problem when folks with Ogre were complaining about a slide show, and others were not complaining.

Thanks kindly. You can reproduce by walking into Tallons CM, and just pulling entry trash. If you aren't stuttering at all, then you arent experiencing it. If you start to stutter, it will get worse as you go up to the first named's room and pull those trash.

If you have time (if you have the ability also). Can you take a single group in and see if you get the stuttering? If not, when does it start becoming noticable?

I have access to 12 toons so I can take 2 groups in there and test.

I'll take 6 in, then take 12, then take 18 (and then 24, if 18 seems less stutter-y than 24) and report back late tonight.

Thanks!

ONE TEAM of toons killing entry trash: 35 fps the whole time
No stuttering at all.

TWO TEAMS of toons killing entry trash, by two different people (one team per computer): 24 fps the whole time
A bit of stuttering, but not game changing.

THREE TEAMs
of toons killing entry trash, by two different people (one team per computer): 17 fps the whole time
Very noticeable stuttering, but not yet ready to wipe because of lag

Ran out of entry trash. Moved up to Boss #1's room and pulled trash at the door.

THREE TEAMs
walk to the doorway of the boss, and pull. Bad pull and all thre groups of trash come. 8 fps the whole time
Game changing lag - slide show.

Fourth team by a third person enters the zone. Team four is sent by themselves up to the doorway by the boss. Other three teams are sitting at the zone entrance. Fourth team gets 27 FPS while idling at the doorway not pulling anything. Drops down to 20 FPS during the battle. They evac. But that just brings the group they're fighting to the door (oops - there were three other groups in the zone -- poorly thought out test by me). FPS drops to near zero for all three players. Total slide show. However, frame rate goes up significantly as each of the adds die. By the final add, frame rate is up to 25-30 FPS.

[It's at this point in the test where we realize that as each add in a group dies, the FPS goes up.]

FOUR TEAMs at the entry to boss #1 (the three generals). Frame rate fine as the adds come at us (30 FPS). Drops to 10 FPS with four adds. Then 15 with three adds remaining. Then 17 with two adds remaining. Then 22ish FPS with one add. 30 FPS after the adds are dead.

Two teams leave the raid and the zone. TWO TEAMs on two different computers pull the third set of adds. FPS is 20 until the first add dies, then 24, then 25, then 30 for the last add in the group. Much better.

One team leaves the raid and the zone. ONE TEAM on one computer pulls the final set of adds. FPS is 35 the whole way.

What are specs of the computers? Specifically the CPU (type/speed). None of this really seems out of the ordinary, unless you've got a very fast CPU clock speed. The more actors (people, and mobs), the more latency there is. So as mobs are dying, it's increasing. The problem with 4 mobs, and 24 people, if everyone is in melee range, I'd guess that everyone has some AE auto, so that's 24 attacks per second, on 4 mobs. Add in abilities, etc. Now, the bot also has to be cranking out calculations (checking what abilities are ready, if people need healed etc).

I assume this latency is much worse in this zone, than any other?

If you can do 1 more check when you have time, using one of the more laggy scenarios (full raid would be optimal), turn OFF Ogre's raid options (uncheck Raid options, and uncheck limited). Does it help, or make no difference?

I really appreciate the debugging, I'll try to get 24 bots to head there soon to test. If I can get some lag, I can see if I can run some profiling to find out what is causing it.

Thanks for the reply.

This zone (It's really Drunder towers, not just Tallons), is much laggier than any other zone. We run these boxes in Velious 1 and Skyshrine zones, and there's no lag. Nothing like this.

Will try your "uncheck the raid options" test tomorrow.

[EDIT: my computer is i7 CPU 960 @3.20 GHz]

3.2 should be fine, you will see some lag with more laggy zones. If you have an aftermarket cooler, OC that puppy, even to 3.6, you'll notice huge gains.

Haven't had a chance to go back and test more. We were locked from the first tests, and there was no trash left. Were you able to take some teams in there to experience the lagfest? :)
