Making a path?

I don't get this. Not new to bots and used eq2bot before, the UI seems to be the same more or less but how do you actually make a path?

I go to the tab "Auto-Hunt" then check auto hunt and click start movement. Then what? In the eq2bot I hit pather, ran around, end path and save. Voila just hit start and it ran.

I am missing something, just curious what it is. Setting up the other stuff works great for a follower but it's just the automation to run a path with the leader that I get stuck on.

Thanks for the reply.

So if I get this right, mapper, F2 to start and then run around, F2 to end and hit F11 to save. So I just tick "auto hunt" and press "start movement" in the bot then?

Depends on what you are wanting to make...

It does NOT do paths, it does points and auto navigation to those.
Example: You run the mapper, hit F2 and labeled it "Start". Run directly north for 2 minutes, hit F2 and call it "End".
Then in Autohunt, you add the points "Start" then "End".

What the bot does, is moves to Start, then it will navigate to "End" the FASTEST way possible. NOT necessarily the way YOU went to get there.

If you are trying to do a circle, and make a Start point, run around in a circle and then make the End point (beside the start), the bot will take the FASTEST route possible, which isn't running in a circle, so it wouldn't move (because it would be on/beside both the start and end points).

So the mapper makes the layout and using the auto hunt option I can then add what to actually do inside the layout I just made. Did I get that right?

I type ogre.

Ok so I started the mapper and made a good 2000 points roughly, in those 2k points I made a start and then an end but realized that was wrong because I ran around a huge mountain then ended up on the first path so I thought it would not run around the mountain, so I started the mapper again and made a middle checkpoint.

So I start the bot and it tries to cross right over the mountain. I thought that it WILL run the fastest way to my points but it will ONLY use the mapped path I made, I guess I was wrong and don't think I fully get this or the bot just went crazy that time and I did not try to reproduce the error.

So what is the best way to make a huge path that involves for example a mountain that I want to go around? Does it stick to the mapped path IF the next custom point I have made is closer than the 3nd? And if the 3rd if closer than my second it will try to cut directly to that one?

It should stick to the mapped areas 99% of the time (I'm sure there is one time it won't), but not in a case like this.

Start off with something very, very simple.
Do it in a noobie zone, or qyenos/freeport, or even a guild hall etc.
Start the mapper, call one point "Start", run 20 feet in 1 direction, call that point "End".
In the bot, add those points, and use the movement only option and hit start movement.

Does it work? If not, what is the issue, anything in the console.

Assuming that worked, now make the bot run around an object, such as a house in a city etc.

Ok will do that but where is the mapped area saved so I can delete my failure and start from scratch?

eq2ogrecommon/zonefiles/

The name of the file is SOEs naming convention.

If you can't figure out which file it is you need to delete, in the console you can type:
echo ${Zone}

and it should tell you.

That did the trick but also saving the mapper gives the name I noticed.

Is there a recommendation not to have my POI really far apart or does it not matter as long as they are connected?

Anyway, think I am starting to get this now, thanks for the great feedback.

Makes no difference as long as they are connected. (Before flying mounts, I had a simply 2 named point path in Ferrott. From the bell to CT, those were the only 2 points, worked great... and yes, I was a dirty SoF farmer before some bastards got it nerfed!).

Well it runs for some time then gets off the path and can't more back because it's either stuck or way too far away from the path.

Nice to see it running against a wall or something, especially if you did not run there at all in the mapper.

I do map while on the carpet mount but I don't see that being an issue really as it runs my path a few times. I leave it and come back to see it wya off trying to get back or yeah running into a wall or something.

You're using Autohunt right? (As opposed to ogre harvest or something).

When I patch next (tonight, or tomorrow), try it again. I put in a fix (unrelated to this), but it may have a side effect of helping with this.

Yes that is right, using auto hunt and loop option.

Acts weird, after a while it seem to want to cut straight through to the last point instead of looping back 1-2-3-2-1 for example, it goes 1-2-3-1... No clue why unless it went outside the path and tried to find it's way back.

I even mapped a path, made 3 points not that far from eachother but not in a straight line and went back the same way again to fill in a few gaps or have it a bit wider so it would not deviate but that did not seem to help. After a while it does it's own thing again trying to cut to a point that is not the one it should go to, simply skips one and tries to get to the other and running where I did not map... I thought the logic would be to always stay on the mapped path, like if it did not "feel" that it passed my second point it would just continue to the third but only on the mapped path I made and not try to cut over terrain I did not map at all.

At first I had 5 points but then it was cutting to the 5th so I removed it to four and after a while when it did the same thing I made it down to three and they were not that far appart but after a while it ran out into the un-explored and where it was today when I woke up and just stood there trying to get back but it was too far so it just stood there. Looking at the exp it maybe ran for 30 min anyway.

A tad frustrating when I tries to be really carefull mapping and not even close to any obstacle, always try to stay clear of them but even so :( Can't see what is wrong with it, I mean if it runs the path fine for a few times then suddenly, BAM

2 things... you really shouldn't run autohunt in open zones while afk / sleeping :p

You can get me some of the console information, that will help shed some light on what is happening. There will be a lot with the movement. Did you name any points with just a number?
IE:
Start
1
2
End
Note: Point1 is NOT just a number

Start, two, three, four and so on so not just a number. Just got home so might there be a log somewhere from when I quit this morning? That one should have the latest even though I bet it had been standing there "stuck" for like 4h doing nothing.

Just seems weird because I have been searching the forum and I am the one getting the walk out of path stuff. While watching now I see that it might be mobs knocking back, too many of those would on the right occasion be able to knock me back quite a bit. Going to ignore those and try this again and see if that might have been the problem because they are around my point two, so that would explain point 3-5 being a problem...

if you leave the pather running, and promise not to fall off a cliff, it should map the extra areas and never take you off the beaten trail.

I can try, had a bad run again. This time it wanted to run straight out and over the cliff. No special message in the console I can give you either. Just ran off :(

Not sure what is wrong or mapping on the carpet is bad.
