New Auto attack options

Hello everyone,

In patch 156 (Ogrebot version: 15.057), I did a pretty large code change (but ultimately very little change from a user point of view). Because of how many changes I did, I want to explain some of it here.

This is how things work (regardless of class, they all work the same).

If you have "Melee Attack" checked on the "Settings" tab, if you are in melee range, the bot will turn melee on AND turn the "Auto Attack mode" to melee (so when you use a CA, it doesn't try to turn on ranged attack, or a wand).

If you have "Ranged Attack" checked on the "Settings" tab, if you are OUT of melee range, and within "Ranged" attack range, the bot will turn Ranged Auto attack on, and set "Auto Attack mode" to Ranged.

The bot will only toggle attack modes every 1/2 second if they are incorrect (so it doesn't spam the server if you are bouncing in and out of range very quickly).

This should net the absolute best possible DPS from weapons, since melee weapons always are better than wands (priest/mages).

There isn't any good way to check if your ranged item is capable of making an attack (IE: You're a priest or mage and do NOT have a focus item). In this case, it is up to YOU to not check "Ranged Attack". If you do, it will continually try to turn ranged attack on (and fail, cause you can't).
One more time:
ONLY turn on "Ranged Attack" if your character has the ability to use Ranged Attack.

If you find any bugs or oddities that could be related to this, please post them in this thread, with as much information as possible. (Ideally, a way I can reproduce it).

So basically I don't need to do anything with my settings for auto attack because Ogre will do it all for me?
The only toon I use that has an actual range attack that I have checked on settings in my Troub.
Cool I was wondering what the best option for this would be.

The only thing you have to do is this.
Any toon that has the ability to use a ranged weapon (be a bow, satchel, or wand), make sure you have "Ranged Attack" checked.
Any toon that doesn't have the ability to use a ranged weapon (uhh... you know.. not one of the above) make sure "Ranged Attack" is unchecked.

Ogre takes care of the rest.

Kannkor,

Not sure what the heck i am doing wrong but i can's get my auto attack to work.

On my SK everything work well till i engage auto hunt. Once i click it on, all my CA will not cast. The bot will pull mob but then only auto attack. I have the range button cleared, Move into melee range cleared, ignore npc HP to move cleared and ignor NPC HP cleared. I am using Malice to pull mob. Auto assist if off.

on the auto hunt tab i the pull spell checked (Malice VIII) and auto hunt checked.

Any suggestion as to what i am doing wrong?

Thanks

This isn't the thread for this. I'll answer it here, but if you still are having issues, start a new thread.

You need to check "Check Aggro". It's a bug with autohunt, it'll get fixed when I get around to rewriting the tab.

Okay, from a ranger perspective (in particular) this needs to be able to be forced to work the other way around. I've had to create g15 macros to fight this new feature. For rangers (or anyone who wishes to PREFER ranged auto-attack) it needs to read:
"if you are TOO CLOSE for ranged auto-attack, then switch to melee auto-attack".

Otherwise, if "force ranged auto-attack" gets set, then the mob gets too close for ranged...the ranger just stands there...won't back up...won't melee....just casts some CA's.

Maybe just a 'prefer ranged' option where unticked does as you mentioned....and ticked does as I mentioned would fix us up?

I hate rangers... I'll look into this, see if I can put an override on the ranger tab or something. In the mean time, you should just make a beastlord instead :)
