It was updated on the 24th of june, I figured it wouldn't have any impact on using ISXVG with the game.

WRONG. (taken from webpage http://forums.station.sony.com/station/posts/list.m?topic_id=11500014129 )

----------------
With Station Launcher 1.1.0, we've begun preparing for the ability to update games outside of the application using a web page - much how Free Realms works. This is different from how things worked in a couple of ways.

Games must be in a particular place

We need to be able to have the game files be in a directory that is writeable, even by a Windows account that does not have Administrative privileges. Not only that, it must be in a location that can be updated by an application that is running in "low integrity" mode - a feature of Windows User Account Control (UAC). This means that it must be in the "LocalLow" directory under a user's account (in Windows Vista and Windows 7). While Station Launcher is able to run with "high integrity", the web plugin (which will also need to be able to update the game) runs in "medium" (Firefox) or "low" (Internet Explorer).

The location for for this is the "Installed Games" folder as described here.

Games folder must have a particular name

The web plugin is designed to install into a folder that has a particular name. This is done so that it can write into the right location without detailed knowledge of the file system of a machine. The web page simply writes to a folder with a particular name.

But I want to put my games somewhere else

The web plugin does support the ability to link from the Installed Games folder to a customer-defined location. This is accomplished by putting a text file in the Installed Games folder with the same name as the folder that it is referring to. The contents of this file is a fully qualified, absolute path to the game directory. When you change the location of where a game is updated in the Station Launcher, it creates this link file for you.

Things must be in sync

For security and validation reasons, the following must all match:

* Folder Name on the web page
* Name of the folder within the Installed Games directory
* Directory on the hard drive where the game will be installed and updated

If you have a directory on your folder called "StarWarsGalaxies", it will become "Star Wars Galaxies". If you define a custom location, such asE:\games\thatAwesomeGame for SWG, you will see that the game will be located in E:\games\thatAwesomeGame\Star Wars Galaxies.

Clear as mud?

This probably sounds odd and convoluted...and it is complex. What it does buy us, however, is the ability to update your games through multiple mechanisms. Through desktop applications such as Station Launcher, but also through web pages that can provide you with much more options and paths to get into game faster.

Fortunatly, there is a "goback" option.... but that will prolly be taken away eventually... :(

OLD launchpad (apparently):

edit: its not a viable launchpad either. BLEH!

Lucky for me I somehow ended up with the old launchpad in my %programfilesx86%\sony\station\launchpad folder. I simply used that, with the appropriate vanguard options, and made a directory junction from where it THOUGHT vg should be installed (%programfiles%\Sony\Vanguard) to where it was REALLY installed (c:\programs\Sony\Vanguard), and it worked flawlessly.

We should create a zip or something with the old launchpad for people to download and use if they're installing VG for the first time.

So, I am a bit confused. Does this mean we are going to be down for quite a bit, or ? I don't understand.

You can download the installer from the vanguard site, just dont use the trial version as that will use the new launcher.

I was at the fan faire and they said that the new launcher will be the only way in to all sony games and that would be happening very soon.

Is someone working on a fix action for this at the moment or?

Yes, this is an innerspace issue, not an ISXVG issue. Please make a thread on the lavishsoft forums so that Lax get an idea of how many are affected since posting here does nothing (as I can do nothing to fix it.)
