Randomly during my game play i get stuck while zoning into instances. It gets real annoying and i have to close out and sign back in. I have tried reinstalling eq (just using the station download, i have no hardcopy). reinstalling isx. defraged. nothing works. it still keeps happening and it is a tad annoying. Has anyone figured out this problem yet ? my next step will to be reformat my computer and start from scratch.
I know this has nothing to do with isx but i got no help on the eq2player's forums.

After 4 and a half years playing EQ2, i have yet to figure out how to fix it.

But, i can see where reinstalling my OS might help... Keep up the good fight!!

Yeah, it is annoying, but it's EQ2's login server, not really something you can fix on your end.

Best you can do is write a script that detects a hung loading screen (out of game world too long for instance), then tells the uplink to run a script to close the hung window, reopen it, and log back in.

At least that way if it happens you can just get up, walk off, and come back in a few minutes to be back where you should be.

Same... I've run EQ2 in WinXPx86, WinXPx64SP3, VistaSP1x64, VistaSP2x64 & Win7x64 and have seen this failure in all of them w/ my 6-box team. I found I can reproduce the failure by zoning multiple times, quickly (ie, like when resetting Nek Castle to get Billy to spawn). My notes show the avg time I have to wait between zoning to bypass the issue is ~ 3mins. If I wait less than 3mins, there's a 50/50 chance I'll loose one or more toons. Since i've started waiting more than 3mins between zoning, i've haven't hit this issue once.

It's nothing with your computer, it's definately server side related.

but does this affect everyone? How did you guys install eq? from digital download? do you think installing from a hardcopy cd will change anything?

my original install was from the original install from December of 2005.

I'm sure it wasn't much passed the 3rd run of disk prints.

I've since then had an assortment of downloads of xpacs and bonus zones. and some xpacs have been hard copy installs.

Yes, it affects every one. Even when your not running ISX and IS, although its been over a year since I've done that.

Just something to try. I think occasionally some cache files get corrupt especially those that involve zoning. Try this procedure:

1.) Exit the Game
2.) Delete THE CONTENT (not the folders) for CACHE and LOGINCACHE under your everquest directory
3.) Restart the Game

See if that resolves your issue. It seems that those files store routing information so the server knows which other server in the farm or something contains your zone. Sometimes I think it gets either cirrupted or something happens where you can get to the server in the cache and it doesnt know how to handle it.

I know this has sometimes solved the issue for me but, just a thought.
