Priest distance from MA

I've been using eq2bot for quite a while now and have got everything working i required to work with some messing about, however one thing i can not sort is having my second account (Priest) keeping his distance from the MT. i've googled, searched this forum and messed around with everything i can in UI aswell as gone through files to see if theres a string that mentions distance from MA but i can not find anything that will allow me to keep my priest at a set distance.

So is it possible (i would imagine so considering everything else this program can do) if so can someone point me in the right direction please.

Depending on the priest type you are using (and thus the specific class files), and your settings, once you get into combat your priest shouldn't be moving about too much, unless he is out of range to cast.

Personally, I either manually control where my non melee toons are going to be by having them follow one of the priests I move, or I have them set for no movement at all and move the encounter.

This depends on the encounter of course, the vast majority of the time I have everyone in melee range and meleeing for the extra DPS and the ease of not having to fiddle with it.

Make sure you don't have the "Engage in melee" box ticked and that the spells the priest is selected to cast don't require close range(i.e. priests with CA's). That should stop your priest from moving around much during combat, at which point you can just reposition the mob with your tank.

However, depending on the priest class you could be losing out on a large chunk of DPS.

The priest is a mystic and i've already unticked the melee option aswell as melee mystic mode etc, its like it carries on auto following my MT until he is right next to him, by which stage he's getting AOE'd to death. As of right now i have everything offensive based turned off, and he is still going right on top of MT.

Well, first off, EQ2Bot isn't going to engage until the mob drops to 96% health, and it will continue following till then. Also, if you don't want the bot to move in combat, then turn on NoAutoMovementinCombat, and possibly NoAutoMovement.

And, um, you might want to disable CombatFollow...

And did you know you had it set to spam group wards, but not MT wards? Seems fairly odd to me.

I actually just changed all that stuff just before you posted again to verify and it still wasnt working then i realised i was misunderstanding the "and ASSIST at: " option, lol, i always prosumed that it would detect when someone engaged in combat that line meant it would start assisting (as in killing etc) at that % only. I didn't realise everything i'd programmed into eq2bot only worked FROM that %. so im prosuming that was the reason why it always ran right on top.

Having said that, is there no way i can edit something and have the bot maintain a certain distance from another character at all times?

Also i don't use MT wards because my MT is raid geared so he doesnt need them and i don't want a mob somehow going to hit my MT at the pull (an add for example) and then my mystic getting ward aggro.

EDIT: and no its still not keeping at a distance after i changed the assist to both 99% and 100%

Unless you want to write your own follow routines, no you won't be able to have eq2bot follow in the way you wish. You could use shadow.iss for something along those lines, but it's old, not maintained, and not really designed for that purpose.

As for the ward, niether the group, nor the single target ward should be being cast before combat, since you have KeepWardUp set to false. Those settings are just to keep them up at all times during combat. But if you aren't having any issues keeping your MT alive, then you don't need to check them, which will also allow your priest to use debuffs and other offensive spells a bit more often.

Ok, well thats a shame. I would have thought something such as "maintain xx distance from MT" would be fairly easy to sort out, however that is from someone who has no clue about anything indepth with eq2bot.

regardless thank you for the help.

P.S That was also my other reason for not having the MT wards up so it could cycle everthing else faster.

Disable in combat movement, then set the Assist and Engage to 99%, that should make it so that once the mobs health is down to 99%, the priest will stop moving entirely, then use your tank to move the encounter to the desired distance. It itsn't a perfect solution, but it should do what you need it too, that is keep your priests out of melee range after the initial pull.

When I used to have a problem with AE's killing my priests and clothies, I would set them to follow my bard, who followed my MT. This would keep them far enough back to avoid any AE's at the start, and my clothies and priests engaged at 99%, where my Bard engaged at 96%, so the non-melee's had a chance to engage and stop following, before the bard moved up into combat.

I'll be honest im not playing my tank to do the moving, the plan was to have this running while i do work on my computer or things around the house.

The problem it seems is that as my tank runs towards that target or is running past a target and gets tagged my healer is still auto following and stops when my tanks stops which due to autofollow is 99% of the time in AOE range.

To explain the situation im using this in btw to make it easier to understand, is atm im using it to level up a new toon (mystic), i have set my tank to do laps around Karnor's castle. He often seems to be right on top of a mob before he even stops, this is dispite the fact i have it set to auto pull at a range of 30.

so /shrug

I think im going to mess around with character run speeds to try and get the mystic to lag behind some and therefore have him further back when it engages.

EDIT: Off topic i know but on the navigation tab it has a box at the bottom that you can edit the one that says "Region [ 5 ]: Whats that for exactly?
