Problem with patching

I'm new to ISXEQ2 but had it working prior to going on holiday last week. Since my return there was an Everquest2.exe update. Now when I load ISXEQ2 within Innerspace, it starts to load, and then gives the version incompatibility between everquest2.exe & ISXEQ2 - eq2 subsequently crashes.

I have downloaded the latest Everquest2.exe from this site (but it gets overwritten during the EQ2 patching process).
I have run the SVN update (not that this will make a difference).

I *think* the problem is that it's trying to download the new ISXEQ2.DLL but either unable to do so, or unable to install it.

I am running Vista 64bit and a bit concerned about permissions. I do run Innerspace as administrator though.

Is there anyway to manually download the latest ISXEQ2 files?

This could be your problem...you don't patch after you have the correct everquest2.exe , you set up innerspace to run everquest2.exe to start the game so the patcher is bypassed.

You need to get the EverQuest2.exe that matches the ISXEQ2 that is latest. Those are at http://isxeq2.twonk.net ..put that in your EverQuest2 folder and then run EverQuest2 using the innerspace icon.

If you're not here on a forced patch day, and then you return after there have been other non-forced days, you'll have to do that. ISXEQ2 is only updated for FORCED patches.

OK - I let eq2 patch, then downloaded the latest everquest2.exe (dated 18/9)/ Ran eq2 through innerspace (no patch) and when I ran ISXEQ2 it crashed again. It keeps on saying that the everquest2.exe doesn't match ISXEQ2 dated 3/9.

Yes -- so why are you downloading the 'latest' EverQuest2.exe. Follow the instructions in the error message. It tells you exactly what to do and even gives you the URL to where they are located.

Read what it says in the error message. It doesn't say anything about the "latest" EverQuest2.exe ..it says that your everquest2.exe must match the ISXEQ2 version...and it even gives a date in the error message: 9.3.2008. So, JUST like the error message says, you need the "EverQuest2.exe" that was patched on Septebmer 3, 2008 ..and you can find that on isxeq2.twonk.net.

Honestly, everything you need to know is in the error message ..there's no need to guess. What is the point of patching and then getting the LATEST EverQuest2.exe? ..that doesn't make sense at all.

READ the error message carefully, and then do what it says. And, *NEVER* patch EVerQuest 2 unless the game won't let you start without patching (ie, a forced patch.) ISXEQ2 is only updated for forced patches.

OK - let me explain simply what has happened:

Without Innersight, I let EQ2 patch and logged in and did whatever.
I logged out and quit EQ2
I downloaded the latest everquest2.exe and saved it in program files/sony/everquest II.
I loaded innersight
I started eq2 from innersight (no patch)
I started the console (¬) in EQ2 and ran EXT ISXEQ2.
It started to run then crashed saying there was a difference between ISXEQ2 and everquest2.exe.

Sorry but I don't see what I'm doing wrong here.

Editing this message - if ISXEQ2 doesn't match everquest2.exe why does it crash eq2? Why not just give a "this isn't gonna work blah blah blah" message instead of crashing. Testing things out and crashing time and time again within 30 secs of logging in doesn't exactly look good.

So although there is a more recent everquest2.exe available from twonk, I shouldn't use it?

By the latest, I mean the latest everquest2.exe from twonk.

Again it might be something I'm doing wrong, but why doesn't the log file get written to normally when using innerspace. Even when things were working with ISXEQ2, I couldn't use ACT to parse encounters.

All information you need is in this thread. If you're still confused/lost you have two options:
  • Wait until the next forced patch and then you'll be caught up.
  • Uninstall ISXEQ2, cancel your subscription (send me an email and I'll even refund your payment for it.)
This product is intended for advanced users. I have 400 people using it without any help from the forums, so I feel confident that the instructions provided are sufficient.

Otherwise, this topic is done. I can't imagine stating the instructions/fix for your problems in any better way or any simplier form than what I have already.
