Running bots grouped

How do most people run their bots in parties? Does it require multiple computers or can you run two instances of EQ2 on the same box? Ive been thinking about grabbing another account so I could run a healer/dps combo. Are there any direct benefits from this set up, other than the obvious levelling two characters instead of one?

Thanks

I run two on one box w/o any issues at all. I have 2gb of ram which seems to be the main thing that would limit you.

I also run 2 instances of EQ2 on the same box, "Hotboxin" is what I call it as opposed to "dual boxin". 2 gigs mem, only 400 ddr, FX-60 (sometimes oc'd to 3g), SATA II hd's and seems to work pretty good. Only thing I notice while running Innerspace and therefore ISXEQ2, is after a while, I guess the cache builds up cuz I'll slow down. I'm think there's a small memory leak in one of the programs too. It'll go from using less than 1g of memory for the 2 programs under Innerspace/Isxeq2, to almost, 95%-99% all of my memory. Mostly when I have to afk for an hour, I'll come back and its laggy. Doesn't do it without them when I used to hotbox. However, it could be any number of things, ie, EQ2 and AMD chips don't like each other, etc. I'm quite happy with everything and do find running 2 instances on same comp better, faster and cheaper ;) though I'm building a second box right now with a 3g Intel proc for my third account going live after RoK.

So I would guess you are controlling 1 char with eq2bot controlling the other char with autofollow since the movement commands have to come from the window with focus?

Or are you dual botting and keeping the one with pathing enabled focused?

I box 6 chars at once across 2 computers. My main computer is an intel quad core with 8 gigs of ram and two 8800GTX in SLI. I run 4 of the chars on this box. The other box I have is an older intel box can't rember the model number its not a dual core though. This box has 2 gig of ram and 2x7950 in SLI. 5 of the chars are running eq2 bot my main tank is controlled by me. I have a bunch of custom scripts and an interface to control certain things with the box mainly movement.

I been doing this for almost 1 year now. My previous box before the intel quad core was a AMD 4200X2 (I think) with 4 gigs of ram and 1 6800GTX. This box worked pretty good but I had to drop all the settings on 4 of the chars to the lowest possible. I ran my tank from the intel box as well. The only issue I had with the AMD box is I would run out of ram after about 2-3 hours of playing.

With my current setup I can clear any instance except unrest (I'm working on scripts to deal with some situations in there).

My only warning to you if you do what I do you won't be able to play with anyone else in the future because you won't be used to waiting for a group forever and you won't have to worry about other people making stupid mistakes.

No, bots are in the background. Unless both are bots, that works just fine.

I have the Innerspace Profile for EQ2 set to Lock Foreground, I believe is the setting.

keys are still being pressed, the bot moves around, all while in the background and not focus.

I can run 2 successful (7600GT 2gigs ram) and 3 is painful. I always turn down the graphics on the bots, dont need it right.

And can even minimize them to TINY to try to save memory

It seems unless you have a massive computer, 2 is the most you can run on most computers, with a decent amount of memory (2gig min). Unless someone knows a trick thats the most I can get on a computer.

When running 2 accounts on the same machine at the same time, how do you run Innerspace and 2 instances of ISXEQ2? Or do you only need to run 1 instance of ISXEQ2 for both accounts at the same time?

Can either make a shortcut or use the innerspace toolbar icon, run eq2 twice.

One will be CTRL-ALT-1 .. CTRL-ALT-2 .. etc...
