If you are getting the piss beat out of you by NPC's train drones. use Hobgoblin I light scout drones. and for the most part you're safe down to .5 security zones.
and the reason your guy dosen't run is because even tho its on the COMBAT tab. the settings to tell your ship when to run away still apply. so does the amount of drones it requires to have out without triggering a dock/pause
this game just has A LOT of politics to it so you can't just waltz in somewhere, start mining an assenine amount, and talk to no one, they'll all assume you're "macro-mining" as they like to call it, and either A) declare war on you because they're sure your corporation is puny. or B) petition you for being a "macro-miner" which ccp gives no care for, as long as they can't trace you selling the isk you make for cash they don't give a rats patootie. as i've come to discover most corporations will just flat out ransom you, then declare war on you, rather than petition a gm they know isn't going to do much, unless they find evidence you are selling the isk for cash.
