Update: 8.9.2006

SOE decided to make a change to one of the very basic building blocks of their code today. This means that not only am I having to do almost all of my 500+ offsets by hand, I also will have to go through just about every line of my code to make these changes throughout. And, it's not as simply as cut/paste for me since I need to keep a record of offset locations within classes and so forth.

The good news is that their changes may lessen memory leaks and memory usage and the like. It appears as though most of what I'm seeing was done for the purpose of optimization and tidying up.

However, the bad news is that this will take me a while to finish. I don't foresee any major problems right now other than just the time factor (I'm already hours into working on it..and still working on offsets).

Once I have finished, I will need testers because it will probably have some bugs somewhere since isxeq2 is so extensive and I can't test/foresee everything ..therefore, if you wish to help and stay 'connected', I suggest coming to IRC.

By the way, anyone hear of a race called "Arsai"? It was added recently to the game; however, it is unclear to me if it's a PC or NPC type race.

THe new expansion will have fairies as playable races. Wouldn't be the first time they have preloaded content to an expansion.

Preciate the hard work Ama. Though the DT's may get bad at times, it won't kill any of us to wait a bit for a solid update.

Update: I'm up to about 10 clocked hours working on this so far and I think I'm probably at about the halfway point.

Assuming everything goes smoothly (which is a big assumption at this point), there MIGHT be a test version available very late tonight/tomorrow morning.

(Note: This is the biggest pain of an update so far. It's not exactly difficult...just the biggest pain since virtually everything has to be adjusted.)

Sounds awesome man. Thanks for the hard work.

It's about time SOE did any kind of optimization. If they had been doing it all along then this would not have been such a huge ordeal. Ama, again thanks for the hard work.

I've finally gotten to the 'start testing a little bit phase' ....I figure close to 20 hours now on this one ..hehe. The true irony is that the patch notes make it look like such a simple thing to update.

Looks like the usual patch to fix the patch this morning. Just saw the "down for an hour, starting at 7am PST" message, don't know if it'll be another forced patch.
