Wizard named DPS

I'm fairly new to Ogre, just a couple of days in and loving it so far. Have gotten most of my stupid functionality questions out of the way and I am now trying to tighten up cast orders to see if I can't squeeze out some additional dps from my guys.

My basic problem is this now. My wizard is seeing MUCH improved numbers on trash mobs and groups than he used to with the eq2bot scripts. Also he and the rest of my group seem much more consistant fight to fight. However on named fights with the eq2bot scripts he used to spike to significantly higher numbers than im seeing now. Currently on most tank and spank named he does between 25 and 30k. With the eq2bot scripts he was usually 30 to 35k with the occasional 45k anamoly.

I have fiddled around with named combat arts tab and added his long refresh heavy hitters in there, with fiery blast at the top of that list. But I think that I am missing a basic understand of how the cast order works especially between the two tabs. Originally I thought that they run down the list of spells then start back at the top passing over anything that hadn't refreshed yet. But watching him cast more closely it seems to be that the list is more a prioritization than an actual cast order. So they bounce back to the top of the list as those spells and combat arts become available again, only going to the bottom if nothing from the top is able to be cast. Is that correct? Or am I still not seeing something correctly?

Either way, does anyone have any suggestions for named combat arts order for a wizard to improved dps on those fights? I know there is also the priority tab but I have been hesitant about adding another variable to this until I actually had a better understanding about how the CA and NCA tabs work together first.

Thanks,
T

All tabs are priority orders, rather than cast orders. That means it will always cast from the top ability that is "available/meets the conditions".

For example:
CA tab has 5 nukes:
Nuke_1
Nuke_2
Nuke_3
Nuke_4
Nuke_5

Fight starts...
Nuke_1 casts.. 2second reuse
Nuke_2 casts.. 60s reuse - 3 second casting time
Nuke_1 casts.. 2s reuse
Nuke_3 casts.. 60s reuse - 1s cast time
Nuke_4 casts..
Nuke_1 casts..
Nuke_5 casts..

Now for how the CA and NCA tabs work. On a regular mob, it only uses the CA tab.
On a named mob, it uses the NCA tab first, if that list has nothing available, it moves to the CA tab.

For a wizard.. few things to make sure you have done.
If you have any important debuffs for named mobs, put them in the NCA tab at the top. Don't overdue it... Just because you have 8 (made up number) doesn't mean as a wizard you want to cast 8 debuffs on a named mob.
Then you have 2 choices. You can make an entire cast order for the named mob, or put in any longer reuse/big nukes in the NCA, then it will switch to your CA tab once that list has nothing available in it. I personally just put the debuffs/big hitters in here.
Make sure you use the pre-cast tab for the wizard for big hitters (Probably just ice comet).
Aside from that, can look into eq2bot to see specifically what it's cast order is etc.

I also have a question about Wizards in OgreBot, so this seems like a good thread to ask it....

Is it possible to set up the bot so that IceShape and FireShape won't cast on top of each other? I only want one or the other (plus Frigid/Surge through pre-cast) to cast at the beginning of a given fight.

Current no there is no way to toggle a buff based on another buff. I was going to see about adding something in where you could limit temp buffs, but when I asked around no one was interested, they all wanted the temp buffs to be firing when they are available, so I spent the time on other things.
