How about those poor guys in the mmo jail in china? bet they were fucking relieved when soe went down. Tho, they prolly hadda dig trenches then.
Anyhow, if you get a chance Ama, to finish the isx before Sunday, it would mean really alot, to maybe less people than it took to build the Suez canal, but, to more people than donated to Valerian.
Weren't they forced to play WoW? Not EQ2.

I worked about 11 hours on this yesterday, and then about 4 hours tonight. (And, keep in mind this isn't the kind of work you can do with tv/movie/music in the background.)

I expect to have a TEST version ready Thursday night late (Pacific Time.) It will be announced in IRC, that is where you should be if you're interested.

Thank you Amadeus, both for the work and for the update on the progress made so far.

Edit: BTW, looks like another forced patch 6/2. Hopefully it's just minor changes and won't be a big set back.

Paypal

Amadeus, will you post where to send donations? Not that I don't trust anyone else but I want to make sure he's getting the donations.

I agree this is an invaluable asset. Worth donating along side of paying for our EQ2 accounts each month.

Obviously, I do appreciate the donations and it does make it a bit more bearable. My paypal email address is amadeusmq@yahoo.com. However, I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking that anything can make it happen faster. In two weeks I'm on vacation for about 3 months, but right now my schedule is just full all day and I don't have time to work on it until late in the evening.

Updating ISXEQ2 is always very methodical work. Imagine a massive jigsaw puzzle where you have a lot of pieces, but instead of each piece having exactly one location it goes, it can go in a multitude of locations (but, only one place is where it NEEDS to go.) Some of the more advanced features of ISXEQ2 requires reversing a significant portion of the client. So, whey they make a fundamental change (which is what happened this time), it requires going through every inch of it to make sure it all "fits together" in the right way. There are some things that were updated this patch that hadn't been updated since 2006.

The good news is that, as far as I can see, nothing is "broken" and ISXEQ2 will be working as it did before as soon as I finish the update. I actually finished the preliminary portion of this last night, and logged in. I was working through some crash bugs when I ran out of time. But, I imagine with another hour or two I should have a test version ready. (Of course, I first have to update for the patch today ..which usually takes about 30 minutes.)

My apologies if my asking about donations lead you to believe it was intended to get the updates faster. Offering a donation is something thats been on my mind since the day I relaized how much work and coding you have to do in order to make this happen for us. Its more of a thank you. I just chose this thread to ask about it.

Can't claim to know the internal workings of the dll and patcher.

All I know is, trying to run it at 8am UK time it wasn't working. Running it at 11am it WAS working. That's some ungodly hour in the US for someone to be up and working on this.

Above and beyond the call of duty imo.

Yup--Amadeus did it again--record time for such massive changes to be incorporated.

We all owe a big debt of gratitude to Ama.

Thank you Amadeus.

Now let's hope they don't do another forced patch. They're supposed to be reverting the way spell casting formulas work to pre GU60 today, and I'm not sure if that is something that would absolutely require a client update or not.
