Any word or ETA about Lavish?

I doubt it would be that. He is running a software shop and selling the service. By selling that service it is no longer at the will of the owner to do whatever he wants. I may be underestimating but I don't think LAX is that unprofessional or stupid. More than likely his ISP took a hit or something happened to isolate his home network from the internet.
It has happened before so I am sure it will be back up at the earliest opportunity.

Frankly, I think you should harass Lax into adding a 3rd authentication server that has nothing to do with his other ISP.
Heck, the 3rd server could just be an on/off switch that lax could set when he's having major ISP problems. In other words, if the first two are dead, he could set it to ON and everyone would be able to use innerspace regardless of authentication during that period. That would be the best in my opinion.

If I misunderstood what you meant but I don't know any other way to interpret it. A dickhead in irc can't directly affect the lavish servers unless you are insinuating that that dick was an uber hacker and the irc server is on the same server lavish uses for his forums and the guy somehow used an exploit to crash the server itself. A bit of a stretch and not the first thing I would have guessed but a possibility.

mkay, you don't have to be an uber hacker to have or have access to a botnet
you don't have to actually crash a box to deny service

depending on how it's setup he may have had to change a dns entry to get the backup server online, try flushing your dns cache if you'r having problems and other people arent

By the way, www.macroquest2.com is down as well and uses the same ISP as lavishsoft. So, there must be something funky going on with the main ISP.
