Can Someone Tell Me How To Use Precast To Make My Ho Work?

I am asking for a simple heroic opportunity example. I could of sworn back in the day there was a chain tab that let us build chains, and wait on certain skills until the entire chain was ready etc.

I was told that was gone, so I am trying to use precast to learn how to do it, and I cant get it to work on a simple level 7 heroic opportunity.

HO -> Skill 1 -> Skill 2 ----- And this assumes it will "roll" the right chain on HO every time, I don't need intelligence to see which chain type it is, I just want to do Skill 1(HO)-> Skill 2->skill 3.

I remember using this tab in raids along time ago, I could get 30% more dps using ogre than by hand, because I'm a little older and have bad arthritis, and this timed everything however I set it up. I hate that it is gone, but if anyone can show an example or provide more detail on why I cannot get the precast to work right, I am sure it would help me. Maybe it wasnt ogre that I used it in, do any other isxeq2 bots have the chain tab that lets you define multi skill bursts etc?

Basically my precast looked like:
Augur | on=skill 1
Skill 1 | on=skill 2

I also tried i backwards:
Skill 1 | On=Augur
Skill 2 | On=Skill 1

Does the order the skills are in in Caststack matter if we use precast on multiple combos?

HO isn't really a skill, so you can't use it that way. But you can pre-cast other abilities off of other abilities.

What are the ability names exactly you are trying to use?

And it was Ogre that had chain tabs... but they were such a nightmare, when I moved to caststack I had to remove them and never re-added them. It added a lot of overhead and they never did work exactly properly.

For my HO I use basically PainBringer II -> Malice

My SK is low level, I am starting from scratch to relearn stuff before I start leveling my old toons.

So if I understand right, if I have HO Active, and move my two skills up to the top on CastStack, well really just Malice, and have PB II set to be precast for mlaice.... that would make my HO work?

One other great thing from before.... is the ability to make certain skill(s) wait until another skill was ready before casting.... for examnple in this combo... PB II recycles FAST... but Malice takes like 30 seconds... so if the precast is set, will Malice ALWAYS wait until PB II is ready to cast before trying to do the combo?

And I am using HO as an example here really... my goal is to learn how to make the best use of combos later on that I can... one thing I learned raiding with ogre is that DPS can be SUPER tweaked with rotation, proper timing and optimization. I just want to get back to that level of control .

Depends how you want to do it.
You can use post cast instead of precast too.
In this case, you could set Malice as the ability it casts, with a pre-cast of PB II.
This means every time malice is up, it would cast PB II (if it's available) first.
However, that won't actually fire a HO first.
HOs may be relevant at lower levels, but they certainly make no difference in the higher end of things.

From all my testing, there were only a very few select classes that made really good use out of chain tabs, and it was Assassins and beastlords. The rest, it was usually detrimental to use them because it would hold back abilities. And every second you hold back a good ability, means that combo has to make up that damage.

I may consider some kind of new chain tab, but it complicates things a LOT more than people would imagine. The overhead (drop in FPS) is real also. Because every time it has to process the caststack, it needs to read the chain tabs first, and see what it is, and isn't allowed to do.
But to be realistic, I wouldn't have time to complete it before the xpac launches, and when it launches I'll be busy with the new xpac.

Once the expansion hits, and I have time (haha), I may try to make a post with tips on how to make cast stacks, with tips and tricks I've learned over the years.

What I was more concerned about was if I have a pre-cast set up for malice to do PB II first... and malice comes ready but PB II is not ready yet.. if it will wait, rather than casting Malice without it, thus wasting a 30 sec cooldown.

I was playing Brigand when I raided.. and it wasnt that the chain tab was mneeded, but it helped me a great deal do to my arthritis. My DPS was much higher with ogre than by hand... ALOT better haha.

It will not wait.

But, you can do it in the reverse then.
You can have it cast PB II, with a postcast of malice.
That way it can spam PB II all it wants, since it has a short cd, and when ever malice is up, it will be cast afterwards.
