Dracur Prime HM help

I have been trying to figure out how to beat Valagas. I just can't find a way to avoid getting wiped by either Cataclysmic Catalyst or Spontaneous Combustion. Its pretty freaking annoying.

I have tried:

1) Keeping everyone but me (the tank) ranged and jousting CC or SC when I see it being cast. However, two problems: 1) it seems like CC occurs spontaneously at times - I get killed by it and it never shows up in the casting bar. 2) Even if I get a ways into the fight, keeping my melee group ranged means I can't kill the adds fast enough and I get overrun by them.

2) Keeping Valagas in motion (kinda like the Mikil fight) so I can see when he stops to cast CC. This works for a bit, but again, just can't kill the adds fast enough.

3) Jousting my group in and out as necessary and burning the adds when they come, keeping my coercer on Valagas to interrupt, stun, and stifle as much as possible. I have done over 1M DPS in this posture, and can even get through a set of adds sometimes - but, as usual, I get smoked by CC or SC since I am targetting the adds and cannot tell when Valagas is casting bad stuff (not that it seems to matter, lol)

So, if anyone has any wisdom on this fight that they would like to share, please do :)

You have the dps if you're spiking to 1 million.

Biggest thing you can change is to ignore the adds.

Valagas casts cataclysmic catalyst on incoming and then every 60 seconds thereafter. Its not interruptable and as such very predictable.

Spontaneous combustion occurs between 40-45 seconds into the fight. It has no casting time and is also not interruptable.

Take a look at this thread for more details --> http://www.isxgames.com/forums/showthread.php/5810-Destiny-of-Velious-Part-2-Heroic-Instances

Bladedance the first Cataclysmic. Group death prevent the second.

If you're a melee group, run up to him with your group with bladedance up, set him with his back to everyone but you, and burn him to the ground. There can be some unluckiness if your wards arent up at the right time, but he and Nelarn are pretty easy if you have 900k+ DPS.

I had the same damn issue with him, I respeced to Legionaires conviction so that reflects 200% damage back to him and it wipes his ass everytime now!

Success! Thanks so much for your suggestions and references.

I was able to take down Valagas, Hammilkor, and Nenlarn. Here's how I did it.

1) For Valagas, I auto-targetted my coercer to Valagas, placing casting priority on interrupts. Ignored the adds, put a spell timer in ACT for Cataclysmic Catalyst, and did what I could when it was ready to cast to keep the group alive (DP on the tank, bladedance, etc.). Just burned the named down as suggested.

2) For Hammilkor, I found a really nice tank spot so that you can pretty much ignore the adds. First, slide your group past H on the right side into the corner - he will not aggro. Once in the corner, you will notice there are two nicely placed nooks to the left and right of the corner, diagonally across from one another. Nestle your team in the one to the left, your tank in the one to the right. Pull the mob (AE protect on the pull) and get him positioned between the tank and the group. When the whirlwinds spawn, their knockbacks had no effect with this positioning, so you stay right in place. I killed a few of the adds at first, but I noticed they did not do much damaage, and subsequently just went to a straight burn and ignored them. Big caveat: your team must be able to constantly interrupt H's casting of Battering Onset. I had to set both my coercer and inquistor up stay on H and cast their interrupts ASAP to accomplish this.

3) For Nenlarn, used the exact same setup as for H. Pet-pulled him into position, AE protected when he got close, got him between the tank and the group, ignored his adds, and burned him down. Set Coercer/Inq on direct interrupt duty as with H. Because the distance between the tank and team is short, his adds are almost immediately picked up by the tank's AE attacks, so no issue there. Killed him first pull, very smooth. Only minor issue I had to deal with was a couple of aggro drops.

Took a couple of direct shots at Xerxis, but didn't get too far. Even with AE protects up and avoids up on my tank, he killed the tank twice on pull. Will try him some more when I have more time to figure out how best to start the fight.

Thanks again for the input :)

For Xerxis, if you have a brig (maybe swash too) it will take lethal damage when you engage so either use Safehouse or a death intervention. Tank Mardonn with the brig where it stands. Have the tank pull Xerxis and Ariorb about 25 meters away. Start killing either one of those two, but keep them within 35% of each other or the healer will equalize their health (with a net gain as a penalty.) For example: Xerxis to 65%, Ariorb to 30%, kill Xerxis, kill Ariorb. Adds will spawn every 60 seconds or so. Unless you're tank is a brawler, keep up on the adds. Assign the coercer to constantly attack Mardonn and spamming Hemorrhage as its first priority spell to interrupt the comet ability.

pr517 - What is the reason for keeping mardonn away? (Or specifically tanking him with a scout)? I assume this prevents something important...

**EDIT**
Red text... Xerxis' battle prowess grows intensely fighting shoulder to shoulder with Mardonn!

That answers that!
