They unveiled Everquest Next; have you guys read about it yet? Sounds like it could be really different, fun, and (for this audience the most interesting discussion probably comes from this) almost impossible to reliably bot. Players can build things anywhere (right in your way), monsters don't spawn in the same area over and over, the environment is fully destructible so if you aren't watching out you could fall right down a hole another player has made.

Not to mention the combat system isn't level based but rather 'player reaction time and skill' based so both bot designers are usually more skeptical about doing anything with skill based games, and the ones that are willing to still do those types of games usually end up getting detected fairly quickly.

I really liked what they presented, but I agree that it does not look like a bot game at the moment, especially since it will likely not be an alt game neither and with no leveling required, it is hard to see which grind elements could be botted in the first place (maybe resource hunting?).

I love the idea of Landmark as a separate game and prelude to the real game.

Hey,

Spend the entire weekend watching the presentations, tweets, lore panel, class panel, Q&A, etc... It was a blast!

I really like that they're trying to take a new approach on the MMO genre, eventhough some of the 'new' ideas are somewhat tried in other games already (multiclassing, for instance).

With the destructible environment, the engaging combat and changing spawnpoints botting might prove difficult - but some automation is always welcome to some extend, and I certainly hope we'll get a ISXEQN ) You never know what ideas and scripts that will come out of it.

So far we've only seen like 1% of EQ:N, so its hard to guess just yet. Looking forward to EverQuest Next Landmark this winter, and excited to see when they start sending out beta-invites...

Looks like straight out unattended afk botting would be much harder (a good thing), but an Orgebot / multibox would be fun to play around with. I think we all know that "soloing" is much more fun when you're dragging around multiple toons and can take on some interesting content.

Considering it's built on the same ForgeLight engine as PlanetSide 2, it might be possible for Amadeus to look at PlanetSide 2 to let us know if an ISX extension *might* be possible.

It is still WAY too early to be discussing the possibility of botting in EQN. There needs to be a lot more information given about how the core game mechanics will function. The biggest factor in determining a bot is the player base size. I won't be coding anything if EQN flops like many other MMOs after a year. Only time will tell.
