never patch eq2 until you get the dreaded "forced patch" error on login.
read the text in the giant blue box for directions on how to obtain the correct executable.
always give threads a descriptive subject.

I know im a noob and everything.

I downloaded the August 25th exe from the directory and strangely enough that didnt solve anything. Also tried August 9th for safe measures. Would anyone please give me any tips?

Download the august 25th zip file, unzip it and place the everquest 2.exe file into your /everquest 2/ directory.

While I know you said you did this, you unfortunately didn't. You either downloaded the wrong file, didn't unzip it, or placed the unziped file some where else.
Other possibility, is you still had eq2 open, and when you tried to place it there, you got an error message about the file in use and canceled the copy or renamed it (thus, not naming it correctly).

The rules are simple:

- NEVER run the EQ2 Patcher (EQ2.exe) unless the game refuses to load when you run it via EverQuest2.exe.

The only exception to this is when ISXEQ2 refuses to load and gives you a different date than the last forced patch (i.e., like today when I'm going to update isxeq2 for the September 1 executable even though it's not forced.)

In *EITHER* case, the answer is always given in the error message in the console. It will tell you exactly which executable you need and where you can get it.

...Please need to read that error message carefully.
