Is Anyone Actually Enjoying This Xpac?

This may come across as a bit of a whiny post but is anyone actually enjoying this ridiculously scripted xpac? I thought the last xpac was scripted but this is ridiculous. There are encounters in almost every zone that are so annoying that I don't even go in them, even with the bot running it's annoying. Maybe it's just me but this isn't EQ2 anymore, it's something else. It might well be time to hang up my sword if this is the way forward for this game. I can't even imagine how annoying this must be to try and do in a PUG /shudder.

I can see your point over the PUG's, I've not been in one for ages and on our server you see loads asking for replacements for last name kills and even just 1 person wanting a grp at last name cos all others have left discruntled and fed up. It makes me wonder if the dev's made it like this to make it harder for botters but imo its backfired if that's so.
Also in this new expac I don't make as much money as I did in last one, the last one I made a fortune from selling the gear from lab/hall/dom but this new one its virtually stopped just a bit now and again. As for enjoying this expac errrr....... its ok preferred last one tbh.

It's largely been fine. Some of the fights were poorly balanced initially(Qworux, original Captain in Hoist, etc.), which likely alienated a large percentage of players. Adjustments have been made which have brought most of the fights into the realm of reasonableness and I suspect another selective round of HP reductions would go a long way to making the few remaining unpleasant fights more tolerable.

I'm fairly indifferent to the heavy scripting. Kannkor appears to have made an effort to deal with the more annoying fights and bjcasey seems intent on providing similar, if not more, coverage. And that's only if you want things to be almost fully automated. None of the fights outside of IS even require much scripting beyond mild convenience. They can all be done "manually" if you're so inclined.

As to PUGs, this is probably somewhat server dependant. Certainly SP has PUGs being setup for all of the instances(including the occasional IS run), and they tend to be successful.

I've been riding a roller coaster of mixed feelings towards this expansion.

Week 1 - I was incredibly down in the dumps with how difficult most of the zones were. I came into the expansion with ToV 4 Gem Potent and even after switching all the jewelry out for mastercrafted resist, it was still difficult. Of course, it didn't help that I was under the impression that the Brokenskull zones were the easiest in progression.

Week 2 - After learning about the Zavith'loa zones, things were much better. They are by far my favourite zones this expansion. My feelings on the expansion were much more positive.

Weeks 3 & 4 - I farmed the T1 heroic zones as best I could and started into the T2 heroic zones. They were much less forgiving than I was anticipating. After bashing my head against Ossuary for days, I was ready to rage quit.

Weeks 4+ - After the zone re-balancing, things are much better. A few of the T2/T3 heroic fights are fun, a few would be fun if a couple of tweaks were made and a couple of zones I'll ignore as best I can.

For botters, this is our expansion. Heavily scripted content (most of which Kannkor and I will be able to counter-script) means that many casual players will not be able to complete. They lack the skills and coordination to do so. Bots can react faster than those types of players. Also, bots don't get distracted and miss the mob cast bar it was watching in order to interrupt.

I think SOE made a mistake with how heavily scripted the heroic game is. There is a large portion of players that do not want to think when fighting. All of T1 and the entry T2 zones should have had limited scripting. Upper T2 a bit more and T3 about where it is now. Leaving a few difficult zones for raiders and people who like a challenge would have been a good idea, but leave a majority of the heroic content to those people who don't want to think.

People play this game for a variety of reasons, but most of us play this for fun. Some people don't want too much thinking involved in their fun. Overall and as of right now, I am having fun again.

I enjoyed the expac at first, but the ridiculous amount of scripting has sucked the life out of it for me. I've completed all the heroic zones, and spent some time in Ossuary Contested, and I'm done. The loot is boring and unimaginative. It's just copy/paste from ToV with increased damage on the procs. Part of the enjoyment in ToV for me was finding these new procs and trying them out. There's none of that in AoM. Most of the loot is flat out awful. And while yes, in ToV the same could be said, at least you knew that the final mob had a chance at a rare item that was usually pretty decent, or a rune pattern. AoM rare drops so far have been extremely underwhelming, either because their loot script is retarded (tank procs with no tank stats or dps procs with tank stats) or because they're just bad. There's no chance at rune patterns, because now you have to craft all the adorns, which cost ferrin. Which brings us to the only real reason to do 90% of these zones - ferrin. With 4 gem slots per armor slot, 200 ferrin per gem, and zones only giving 20-30 (I can't even imagine this grind if I wasn't getting the double currency!) it's TOO MUCH GRIND! Yea, ok, if you did 7 heroics each day you'd be done in a month. But if I get absolutely nothing else from these zones, and they're extremely boring because of all the scripting, I don't want to do them every day, or even every week.

I'm likely in the minority, but I think the expac would've been 100x better if they'd done another proc revamp. The gear's basic stats are fine, but only adding higher ranks of the same procs has left a very bitter taste in my mouth in regards to itemization. Mixing things up a bit with the procs would at least have given me incentive to farm the zones. They also should have the crazy scripted mobs outside of the zone missions. For example Thresinet. IMO Qwurox should have been the final mob to kill in the zone to complete the mission (ferrin/armor crate), and Thresinet should have been a bonus named with a decent chance at some really cool unique items. Instead she drops absolute shit, is required for the zone completion, and is locked behind another extremely annoying fight.

I'm really hoping the next round of Fabled zones are awesome :(

I enjoy first and second weeks, I thought its really fun, it must be take me a few month to completed whole heroic instance, but after nerfed twice, its boring now when I get 4/4.
Gudre, Captain Krasnok, Behemoth are use to be very fun fight, I love Res like whole night to defeat one mobs, its really fun for me. Only spank & tank will make me fall in sleep.
But good thing here is there are a lot of rare loot worth to farm it, its only thing make me login now.

I believe they are trying to make content last longer, and the way to do that, is to make the treadmill longer. IE: the grind. How else do they make people keep playing their game until they can make you pay them again (IE: xpac)?
Big picture... I'd say they have moved in the right direction.. slowed things down.. so everyone has to farm more.

It's the fail effects that are annoying, you guys scripts are great but even with 148K+ resists and the best gear I can have right now I'm still getting wiped occasionally by random AoE. I don't mind dying but it's the randomness of it that's annoying. I don't mind farming but I like consistency.

Honest there are only a few fight really needs to script, and other fights need master of your MCP skills, its core of your group control, I first down Captain Krasnok without any script, just switching game windows. Use MCP wisely, make your group run to correct direction at correct time, cast correct group prevent death or stoneskin at correct time, joust in and joust out when need, is the way to win.
If you dont want to learn script, its ok, just wait kannkor or BJ or other good scriptor to share, there are almost 95% dont really need script. But if you willing to learn some simple script, you can get through those zones early, you can max your group dps despite you got Ogre, it still have the room to adjust for your own group. Dps always the best way to against script in game.
