Moving To Drunder - Thoughts?

After losing an account due to the fall out of the last week or so I've been thinking that, in order to mitigate the risk of further bannings and everything that goes with it, I'll move my accounts to Drunder should I continue with EQ2.

Just really doing a bit of fact finding before I go for it as I know its irreversible. Firstly, do Everquest 2 still do free transfers to Drunder? Is it really not monitored in terms of third party software so there's no threat from DBG?

Is it an up to date server in as much that everything that happens on live servers is still accessible? Do xp and guild status bonus events happen on Drunder? I guess there are no guide events though

The biggest downside I guess is that I have a level 130something guild which I guess I'll have to leave behind and start a new guild on Drunder? Any other downsides I should consider before jumping ship?

Any advice or thoughts would be much appreciated.

biggest downside is they can stop hosting the drunder server and tell everyone on there your banned.... and you know how they operate sooner or later that server is gonna go.

They still do free xfers to drunder. And with this last ban/suspension wave, not a single person we know of on drunder was hit. Keep in mind it's a pretty low population there right now, so I guess it's possible they were just missed. Seems unlikely, but possible.

When it first came out, it was equal to a live server in every way except no CS (which includes guide events) and no census data. But they did indeed get a double xp weekend.

Yea, you'd have to leave your guild hall behind.

There is no census available on Drunder, if that matters to you.

I've been considering moving there also. The single biggest concern is this.
When you move to drunder, they copy your characters. Say in a year, if they decide to shut down drunder, the most you could get back, is your original characters before they were copied. This means you just lost a year on your characters. That would basically mean the end for me. I'm not playing a year to go backwards.

Secondary concern, there is no krono market on drunder simply because of supply/demand. So if you want gold accounts, either stock pile kronos prior, or pull out the credit card.

Also - housing doesn't come across. Nor do shared banks. Anything you want to bring over from an existing house you would have to slap on to mule toons (which is what I did) that are able to carry the stuff. Some thing you will likely just lose.

So far I haven't found anything that is happening on Live servers that isn't mirrored on Drunder. It is a normal server for all intents and purpose with the exception of support and the other items already mentioned.

By asking to be transferred, you'd also have some recourse (I think) if the server were going to be shut down. You asked to be there instead of being forced to be there. You could ask to get your accounts moved back. People forced there may not get that option and instead would get a ban.

1: The transfers are free. There is a format you put in the ticket, to make it more expedient, but either way it took anywhere from a couple hours to three days.
2: As far as I'm aware of there is no monitoring, I had no issues either during this past incident.
3. It's up to date as the live servers, with a couple caveats. I don't believe the fabled EOF door in Butcherblock is there, unless they finally read my bug report on it. I'm uncertain as to the duck portal in Thalumbra as I've yet to either see it or spawn it, despite trying. Otherwise I haven't found anything else so far that didn't match up.
4: All the events happen, have yet to see on that didn't. Obviously, no Guide quests though.
5: Guild doesn't follow over. Houses don't transfer over. Shared Bank doesn't transfer. So empty out anything you want to keep out of your houses and shared banks.
6: Stock up on crafting materials etc, food/drinks that you might need for a while.

If you have any more specific questions let me know. I'm on Drunder, with a number of friends, although most of us aren't playing a lot through the summertime.

I can't imagine they would move your characters back, but as I mentioned previously, they may allow you to play our old toons PRIOR to the copy over happening, if they do shut it down.

Thanks all for the replies, definitely some food for thought there which was exactly what I was after.

Still undecided so will give it more thought!

Let me add to this, from the response to my asking why I got banned last week, this line was in the response and was shocked at it

"We are unlikely to restrict any accounts that are further found to be in violation of the rules to Drunder. We will be banning them instead."

I think Drunder may be going away

Interesting... But keep in mind, the type of action they "accused" us of, was exploiting/duping, NOT botting. I can understand why they would ban dupers/exploiters vs botters.

But that is pure speculation on my part.

Can anyone confirm how safe it should be now to bot discretely now on standard servers now fog of war and water breathing has been corrected to not interfer with eq2 memory? (Including acoidind real complaints about advertising in channel and doing contested)

If it is safe then why consider drunder?

Everything known on this topic was posted in my announcement. If anything further is discovered, it will be announced as well. I have forbidden unsubstantiated speculation on this and related topics on the forums. I have stated in my announcement as to what should be safe based upon what I have been told -- until someone knows for sure more, or has substantiated proof of otherwise, conversation and/or speculation on what's "safe" or not is restricted on the forums as it just confuses people. (Idle discussion is OK on IRC.)

To answer your last question, I believe that the desire is simply to never have to worry about anything ever again. I think the OP's notion is that they would be eternally safe on Drunder, regardless of what company owns EQ2 and/or how their leadership/management might evolve in the near or far future.

Decision made! I think with everything thats been said I'll stay on my current server and reroll the toons I lost and start again.

Will give me a nice break from running the same old instances whilst I level the toon(s) up. I know its ethereal season but I'll just have to do without them.
