Need help on how to split tank with one group

Good News: I FINALLY cleared Strategists and am now in the Tower of Tactics.

Bad News: I cannot figure out how to split my group into two so that I can separately tank the dual nameds that spawn during the first fight (Blademaster).

I have done the obvious stuff, like changing the settings so that the Tank alias is defined properly as Tank1, Tank2, etc. But using MCP, the commands from one tank are affecting the other's "group". So I tried splitting things up into two physically separate groups, but it still acts pretty much the same. And, I notice in my one group, when I pull with my swashy, he doesnt get healed at all by the healder in his group, and just gets smacked right down.

So, I am totally confused about how to set up Ogre to do this fight. Your help would be most appreciated.

Well.. your issue and how to do the mob aren't overly related... however..

Lets hit your issue first. If you've updated the "Tank" on your priests to be your swash's name, then it should work fine. (Most stuff is probably labeled combat, so make sure he engages in combat prior to you pulling).
If it's not working, use the debugging tab to see what your priests ARE doing.

As for the actual fight itself.. this is what I do...

[tank] -- (20 meters) -- [priests/mages] -- (20 meters) -- [Bard]

Put all your hate gain, and all your assists on your bard.
If you need too, put your combat stuff on your bard too (the stuff at the top).

Apparently root works too, if you desire to do that.

I just change my shaman's tank alias to my wizzie, and set all my toons other then my real tank to assist through him, and turn off all hate transfers (or transfer them to the DPS/ghetto tank) and de-agro's. That stupid root trick would probably work better, but I was under the impression they weren't rootable, without ever testing it myself of course.

See ... joining shitty PUGs once in a blue moon does teach you something occassionally.

Ok, Kannkor's strat worked for me (eventually).

One thing I noticed during the fight that has me puzzled.

I was running into a big problem when the split occurred where my scout tank would get smoked. So I decided I would have my Inquisitor put Redemption V on him just before the split.

However, I was unable to make a button that would cause the spell to cast. I tried:

CastOn...
All
Redemption V
Tank

And that would not work. I then tried substituting the real Toon name for "Tank", and that would not work. I finally tried changing the CastOn to Cast (since the tank is targetted anyway), and that would not work.

I have a similar button for Bladedance (its just Cast...,All,Bladedance) and that one works.

So - I assume I must be missing some subtlety about how this works. If someone can enlighten me, I would appreciate it.

What I do is on my shammy i make my scout the tank so he is getting all the single wards and stuff as if he is the tank. The other guy really doesn't hit hard enough for my real tank to get hurt while the rest of the group is killing the first mob.
So I made a new save on each toon called drunder. I load it before I invite my group "so i don't have to click off buffs," this save sets all toons to think my assassin is the tank "just rename the aliases so that tank is your assassin" .

Before I pull i do a campspot for healers and casters in the middle so the circles on floor are to left and right and named is stright ahead. Then I move the assassin and dirge to the edge of the left circle reset camp spot. now I pull with the tank and fight next to the dirge and assassin. Once they split i have the assassin target one "all toons are set to assist the assassin" then once i see the mob is aggro to him i rescue the other one with my guardian and run him to the other circle hold him while toons kill the first mob once the first mob is dead I hit joust-in the dirge and assassin come to my tank I hit campspot again for knock back protection kill loot chest, harvest shinny and move on.

before i move on i hit dis-ban reload my normal profiles re-invite group then move on lol.:yea:

You can only use base names. Bladedance is a base name, Redemption V is not. Redemption is the base name.

What I do for this guy is put campspot on in middle, temporarily turn off AOEs, put root in CC tab of all the chars that have it and turn CC on for everyone for extra root-safety, lol...(i actually have a save just for this guy, sigh)..then i set one of the characters to root the stoic guy over and over...when they are about to split i hit ability on guard that makes me immune to stuns and such, drag the non-stoic (sorry spaz can't remember name right now) guy back toward zone in door, we kill it, then i run over and kill stoic...super annoying fight....root works, but you hafta be careful, it has a tendency to break on its own on this guy...

Also, if you have one of the new focus wands, hafta take that off as it will break root.

Now that I have a bard (gave in, leveled troub), i will off-tank it as that's much less hassle than worrying about root.
