New Launcher

Any idea how this piece of nonsense is going to effect ISXEQ2 ??

Looks problematic at first glance.

Does EverQuest2.exe still exist? If so, can you launch with it as always? If not, will innerspace launch the game with the launcher executable.

There are a few things you could investigate.

Yea so long as we can still hit the .exe you should be cool to do your thing.

Just some strange remarks in the FAQ:
"Q. What if I don't want to upgrade to the new LaunchPad?

A. The new LaunchPad is necessary to access the game. It will not impede the quality of the game and will actually improve connectivity and data transfer speeds for many people."

It is the "necessary to access the game" bit that is my cause for concern, but with a little over 24 hours till it goes live we shall soon see. They are making it a mandatory patch so if you can book a little time for that I am sure everyone will be grateful.

Yes the new launcher is mandatory once installed. and probably will be mandatory to be installed on or about the 6th December.

After installing the launcher the game crashes if you try and run it from the .exe

"Everquest II has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown.
<verify> G:\live\eq2\game\Client\src\ClientApp.cpp (4010):
No game assests found. Please launch the game from the patcher.
00418a53 010375e4"

now this may be because my game is actually installed on c:\program files\sony\Everquest II

but that sort of begs the question as to where G: drive is. This would be the next logical drive for Microsoft to create given that F: is normally a USB flash drive. So is the patcher creating a virtual drive to run the game from?

Loging out in the patcher allows you to login a second and a third client BTW. So it will support multiple clients.

My bad, it works fine if I use a shortcut to make sure I am running in the Program Directory

Also launches using ISBoxer, but of course since this is a more recent patch than ISXEQ2 supports it gives the normal error at that point.

G:\live\eq2\game\Client\src\ClientApp.cpp (4010)...

that sort of begs the question as to where G: drive is.
The G: drive reference is from the developer who compiled that executable and kept the debugging info enabled. It is his directory structure, not yours.

Is the new launcher live? My launcher still shows Sentinel Fate .... WTF

I ran EQ2.EXE and it patches ... still looks the same... still runs the game ... *shrug*

.. SO I googled a few things .. Found this link for the new patcher

http://help.station.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/30589

What's funny .. I think .. is that I still can't find the download. The links in that help takes me to purchase the game... WTF !!!
