Ogre Rift bot

Amadeus has started developing ISXRift. Likewise, I'm going to start developing OgreRiftBot.

Since it is super early development, I'm taking suggestions on how you want the "look and feel" of it to be.

Things I am NOT looking for are:
soandso has this spell, I want it to do...

I want things like about the layout of the UI. If possible compare it to Ogrebot. Do you like the tab layout on the side etc. If not, how would you prefer it?

How are things like the CA tab, with list boxes then options per ability.

Now is your chance to have some input on how it will look, cause I hate dealing with UIs, so it's doubtful to change later :)

Also worth noting: I can only create a bot for what Amadeus has in the extension. This is a pretty lenghty process, so little bits will come slowly over time.

If the SOE debacle continues into this weekend, i'll be purchasing Rift.

But, I will only play it if I get some help, with the monotonous tasks...aka, I need a bot.

How far out are you on building a useful product?

There's no way of being able to give an ETA. At this very movement, the current RiftBot does nothing, that is because the information available in ISXRift isn't enough to have a working product.

Amadeus has been working on ISXRift (what seems like) every single day. He has been adding features to it that I can use.

I have a lot of the framework done, such as a shell UI, it pauses/resumes etc. So I'm working on keeping up and being ready for more as Amadeus adds it.

My short term plans are this. Continue coding as things become available (which could be a week to a few months, depending on how much time, and how things go with ISXRift). When I have a basic functioning product, I plan to give anyone with an EQ2 Ogrebot sub, free access to the RiftBot while it's in its testing phase.

While RiftBot will look very much the same as Ogrebot (same size UI, same idea with the tabs etc), I have re-wrote it all from scratch. An example is, the UI file size, for equal amounts of UI, Riftbot file size is 70% LESS.
I am re-writing all the insides of Riftbot also.

I started Ogrebot when I knew nothing about Lavishscript at all, so it has some very old code etc. With Riftbot, I'm going to take the time and try to do everything right the first time, to avoid having to go back and redo it.

I plan (which could change depending on what is available in ISXRift), is to create an offensive adventure bot first. Then add in defensive (heals), then go from there.

Anyways, that's my long winded update... :)

Personally, I think Rift is pretty fun, something different. It's $50 which includes 1 month of play time. Worth while to me.. especially considering you can't play eq2 :)

Thank you for a thorough update.

OgreBot is a great product and it has kept me playing EQ2. I hope RiftBot will be just as good.

I will probably sub to Rift this weekend, providing EQ2 isn't up.

I bought RIFT to try out since EQ2 is down. I'm reserving judgement on it until I've explored it more. Having a working quality bot would certainly be an incentive for me to consider switching. For me, I would try leveling at least 3 toons together in RIFT, so having both offensive and defensive capabilities would be helpful. But I realize it is a ton of work to develop, so would be grateful to whatever you can produce as fast as possible.

When I got home from work my wife had a copy of the game on my desk. :yea:

Be safe in The Matrix Amadeus :D

Since I only played a slight bit on beta I do not know what kind of input I can give on the UI layout for you Kannkor. I would be fine with it looking just like the eq2 UI. Of course once I get in game maybe I can be of more help to what would be nice to have and where compared to the eq2 UI.

Im not interested in it, I already played wow :)
From everything I have heard and read its way to much like wow for my taste, but it think its a great idea to continue to add to the ISX family :)

I've heard a few people say it's a lot like WoW.. being I think the only person in the planet that has never, ever played WoW.. that could be why I enjoy it so much.

Okay, I need some info from some folks.

This is what I understand about the game (broken down to basics).

Talking strictly offensive abilities.
GCD = Items that do NOT follow the Global Cool Down.
You have a few basic options.
1) Abilities that increase attack power (for warriors, those swords up by your portrait).
2) Abilities that use attack power.
3) GCD
4) GCD that use attack power.

My idea is this. 1 list that holds them all. You choose the order, and the options would be:
B - Use to build power - only use if power is NOT already at 3 (max)
P - Use when attack power is at 3
(May add in P1, P2, P3 that allows use when power is at 1, or 2, we'll see if that is realistic).

In theory, GCD won't matter, because they should show up as being "Ready", so the bot should cast them fine even while casting another ability.

I've only ever played a warrior in rift. So the above is pretty much based off of warriors only.

The feedback I'm looking for - does this work?
1) for warriors
2) for scouts
3) for priests
4) for mages

If it doesn't, give me as much specifics as possible.

I do plan to play all 4 "types", however I'll probably have a working bot prior to playing them all.

May add in a (power) limitation on each ability also.

IE: Kick - Power>30 - so it would only cast kick when your power is > 30.
We'll see. I may just do a generic power limit. This way you could set your limit to 15%, then it would choose your next ability (by the priority list, therefore casting the one you would prefer).

Thoughts/suggestions?

Edit: I just want to add, while ability casting isn't available to me yet, I'm trying to plan ahead, because it's coming soon(tm).

Kannkor,

I just sent you a mail.

I am playing a scout and haven't made it past lvl 13 (just got the game, and I am not fully "hooked" yet). So, my input isn't based on lots of experience.

So far, it looks like a bunch of button mashing with little timing issues. The only dynamic decision I have to make it when do I hit my attacks which need combo points. I also have a couple of "dodge" abilities I have to use when I start getting knocked around.

So, I don't have any good responses to your questions.

I will be following this thread closely to see what the future of it looks like.

With this SOE stuff going on, and my account due to expire in a few months, i might just let it end and move onto rift, but only if I can box it, esp with it being "comparable" to wow, which means timmy in the 4th grade is gonna be trying to "pwn newbs" and prove that hes more "l33t s4u53" than you!, and that was my main turn off from wow...even knowing theres plenty of those people in every game....rather my own group of newbs filled with myself, so if i suck i can punch myself in the face, vs timmy in the 4th grade and getting hit with legal issues.

Boredom got the best of me last night and I started to buy rift, but I watched a gameplay video first and decided against it, to similar to wow for me, I'll hold out a little longer. The sad thing is there are so many MMOs out there and none seem to be that good other than a couple. I thought the video for guild wars 2 loomed pretty cool, but we all know anyone can make a good video it's the game that counts.

What would make a good mmo to you? That's the problem.. everyone wants something that is completely new. That's impossible. In the end, it's people killing shit. It's button mashing. Everyones first MMO, always has that feeling attached to it, it was a world that you had never encountered before. It was completely new (well it wasn't, but our brains sure made it feel like it was).

If you (not YOU specifically), want to continue to enjoy MMOs, you need to get the mentality out of your head, that the next one you play needs to be life changing.

It's like buying a car. When you buy your next car, if you're expecting it to be a mind blowing experience, with unseen ever before experiences, then I sure hope you wait until cars can fly.
If you're waiting for that kind of experience, then you'll have to wait for virtual reality machines that interact with mmos that goes mainstream.

I personally, find what makes a game fun to me, is the interaction with others. Oddly enough.. I usually bot a group to avoid playing with others, but I still enjoy the interaction with friends - either raiding or just in tells/joking around.

I'd recommend finding what it is you like about an MMO, and focus on that. If it's friends, then play a game with them, if friends make you happy, I can assure you, any MMO will suffice.

Anyways.. it's 4am and those are my thoughts! :)

I haven't bought Rift yet and will likely sit it out.

Tried out LOTRO and DDO since they were free. Didn't really feel any attraction.

Now, EQ2 isn't my first mmo; I have casually played EQ1 for a bit and before that I was heavily into LPmuds (text based). I think that EQ2 really excels at character immersion through the way you are able to control your character (there is no delay and it just feels natural; whereas it just doesn't feel right with LOTRO and DDO).

I agree with Kannkor: I mainly play to be with the people in my guild, even though I'm mostly botting the heroic content. And unless my guild moves to another game, I'm sticking with EQ2.

I see where your coming from but thats not me at all, I to play for interaction but i like the adventure as well. I do not need anything to be life changing or groundbreaking, I know a lot of people do but I’m not one of them, I just want the games I play to have depth and not be overly linear, I like the sense of adventure and being able to explore things on my own and with friends. I will admit I am very biased when it comes to EQ though :)

I did find a lot of people on the Rift forums this weekend though that was heavily regretting paying 6 months in advance for some of these very reasons.

Just to clear it up.. my rant wasn't really about Rift at all, or suggesting people play Rift.. :) Was merely a rant :)

All good my brotha :)
I have family coming to visit tomorrow anyway for 2 weeks, if EQ2 is still down after they leave i will have to check out something else for sure LOL

I do have a question, was there ever a bot program for wow? i heard they are very hard core about botting but wasnt sure if there was isx for it at one time or not.

There was, and still are bot programs for WoW. Blizzard (creators of WoW) do go after botters. Not only that, they go after the people that create the bots/hooks etc.

This is my understanding...
There was isxwow (or isxwarden or something). It basically bypassed their anti-bot check. Then blizzard took some companies to court for distributing the ability to bypass it (which is needed to bot). At this stage, the creator/maintainer of isxwarden (Lax) stopped it because it wasn't worth risking his entire business.

I'm sure there is more to the story, but I think that sums it up in a line or 2. I personally have never played WoW, but there are still people out there that create bots etc.

(Amadeus) I suspect it will be mid-June before I time to work on this again. 1.2 basically made it so I have to go through everything manually.

Just wanted to mention this - Any bot I create requires the extension that Amadeus builds in order to work. So Ogre Rift Bot is delayed at this stage.

OMG , im so happy to see that Amadeus is looking into an extension for Rift, I used to use ISX for EQ2 and Vanguard, Ive been playing RIFT and the macro program i was using the author has given up due to all of the recent hotfixes and shifting memory addresses.

Im extremely happy and can't wait to see another solid product from you guys, thanks for working on this. Ill definitely support you again and the product!:yea:

I hope that the ISX team will be able to do a Rift extension, I personally left EQ2 boxing and consolidated to 1 account. So I am very interested in using isx in rift!

Why wouldn't it be 2 subs...?

Regardless, I haven't really put any thought into it. I need Ama to do isxrift, then I need the time to develop the bot itself. While I'm developing it, it would be in beta testing and free - once it's "done", I haven't decided what I'm doing with it.

hope the you get rift bot when paying for ogr eq2 bot.. not gonna be 2 seperate subs right?

I don't think Rift is going to make it. I think TOR and GW2 will wipe it out when they come out (especially considering that I'm already back to playing wow.)

It's not that it's a bad game, it just has no re-playability (in my opinion.) I can't even imagine leveling up an alt.

sorry for the necro post but this was the only mention of a rift bot really. I know its been 2 years since the original attempt at making an isxrift but now that rift is F2P it has gained a ton of popularity and would love to see an ogre for it as just using isboxer kinda sucks. Any possibility of this happening?

It is doubtful; however, I will look into it later this summer. For now, I would suggest trying Aion. There was just a huge update for Aion, so isxAion is not yet updated; however, once that's done it has pretty much everything necessary for a good bot. Look through the postings in the isxAion area of the forums here.

I will be sure to create a thread on the forums when/if an isxRift is a possibility.
