PROBLEM: Innerspace loads *.exe, but doesn't load a skin?

Been having this intermittent issue for sometime now where when I try to load EverQuest2 via Innerspace, the EverQuest2 game window does not load.

Here are steps I am taking to load:

1. Run Innerspace (as admin)
2. Select Everquest II No Patch (the everquest2.exe has admin rights to run by default).

**This is where the game window will sometimes load, as it should....but in most cases it will not load (only loads sometimes).
3. The Innerspace console shows "Successfully executed '"C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\EverQuest2.exe"'.

4. The Windows Task Manager shows EverQuest2.exe running. After I wait 5minutes to see if it will pop-up the game window, I goto the next step.
5. Now I try to to "Kill Process" of Everquest2.exe, and repeat steps #2-#5.

Windows 7 ~ 32bit

Also having the same intermittent issue on another cpu Windows 7 ~ 64bit.

After I kill the EverQuest2.exe process a few times (see Step#5), it may load.....after 20 tries i give up (see Step #2), and do work.

Also, Everquest2.exe loads fine, if I load it without Innerspace.

Get terminology right before posting... By no skin loads you mean the game window isn't loading.

Now, as I told you in IRC 10 minutes go, if this is happening when ISXEQ2 isn't autoloading (pretty sure we ruled this out a week ago) then it is a Lax issue and there is nothing that ANYONE on this forum can help you with.

Try joining #innerspace on IRC or bug lax at his forums at http://www.lavishsoft.com/forum/index.php

Sorry about the terminology, you're correct the game window isn't loading.

Sorry for asking this question in the ISXGames IRC Support channel, the question wasn't directed at you (e.g., /tell), but the community in a whole. I was hoping someone else might have experienced the same issue, or found a solution.

I will follow your recommendation, and seek out Lax.

Ungreatfullprickfully yours,

If you think trying to call me out for calling you an ungrateful prick is going to make upset or something then you are sadly mistaken.

Actually quite the opposite. I was hoping my sincere apologies, would help ease your personal issues.

Crunked - Why Hendrix a little short with you? Yes. Did he do this AFTER he tried to help you? Yes.
Do you think coming to the forums and now treating him like an ass (whether he deserves it or not) will help your case?

While none of us will admit we like Hendrix, he is a long standing member of this community, and lashing out at him will not help your case. If you don't like what he has to say, ignore him.

I've read the irc log, and read this. I still don't have any idea what your issue is. I do find it amusing, that you take the time to screen shot IRC of Hendrix (do you have some kind of crush on him now?), but you won't take the time to screen shot your actual issue.

I came to the forums to post an issue, in hopes that someone that is not on IRC may have a solution.

In no way was I lashing out @ Hendrix, in fact I was happy he took the time to read the forums as well, and correct my terminology. Hopefully others will have a better understanding of the issue now.

I dont have a crush on him, but if he would like to go out to a movie/drink with me....I would be glad. The issue with my client not loading via innerspace has been directed to Lax.

Hendrix is correct, this is a Innerspace issue not a isx one, so feel free to remove this post.

Thanks, and sorry for any inconvenience

I understand that, so when someone says something that upsets or irks you, don't respond to it.
Lets take a look at what happened here.
You posted for help.
Hendrix trolled you.
You took the bait and responded.
Hendrix responded and trolled you some more.
You took the bait and responded.
At this stage there are 5 posts, 80% of which have NOTHING to do with your issue. Of those 80%, 50% of them are yours!
You want people to read your problem and respond to it. You don't want to get into a fire fight and change the topic of your own thread.

In no way was I lashing out @ Hendrix, in fact I was happy he took the time to read the forums as well, and correct my terminology. Hopefully others will have a better understanding of the issue now.
No one understands your issue. I don't know how long you've been around, or how often you read these forums. But you provided us with almost no information. Almost every problem posted here has the same response - Post an exact error message, or screen shot of what you are experiencing. Once that is done, I'd say well over 90% of problems can be easily resolved by people who post here (whom are also paying members).

The issue with my client not loading via innerspace has been directed to Lax.
Great... So Lax will probably ask you the exact same things I asked... He can't fix something he has no information about, and can't reproduce himself.

So when you get it fixed, you won't update with how you fixed it? That's being part of the community right there! Thanks buddy.

I have added more detail to the OP of this thread, and I will report back when this is fixed. Let me know if you think this needs more detail.

Thanks,

I honestly believe you installed it wrong and think you should start from scratch and forget anything you have done so far.

Just slowly read the setup and go one at a time till your install looks just like the Innerspace then ISX installs that are on the setup screens if that happens you shouldn't have any problems.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why does the console output show you attempting to load isxeq2 before Everquest2? It suggests you've got it in the wrong pre/post-startup section. I suppose it's possible isxeq2 leaves the stack in a bad state which stops EQ2 from loading properly, although thats a bit of a long shot.

Not able to load isxeq2 after last SOE-update

Dear friends,
since the last EQ2-update I'm not able to load isxeq2 - tryed the binary file from 04-Jan-2011 and 06-Jan-2011. While trying to load isxeq2 I get the following error popup message:

....: EverQuest2.exe - Bad Image
The application or DLL ....InnerSpace\Extensions\isxeq2.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

The console window error shows the following last 13 lines as follows:

Anybody else getting this error? I'm running WindowsXP 64-bit and had not this kind of problems since I'm using isxeq2.

isxeq2 is now not running on 64-bit WindowsXP

Just checked with my Windows 7 on my Notebook, there isxeq2 works fine with the 04-Jan-2011 binray - but not on my WindowsXP 64-bit desktop.
What should I do now for my desktop?

Solved

Just an update:

Lax advised that other software is interfering with the UI during launching EverQuest2.exe

The only other software running on my machine was:
1) AVG virus software
2) ZoneAlarm firewall software

Un-installed ZoneAlarm, now I am having no more issues.

I hope this helps someone in the future, because it drove me up the wall for the past 2 months.

Just to add to that list - the last time I tried to use Alchemy to add EAX sound back to Windows 7 it did the same thing. Also, programs that make the game 3D (iz3D) did the same hung process the last time I tried them.
