Radar Question

Hey everyone, this may be somewhat of a newb question but I'm having problems with the radar in ISXVG. Basically, I use 'radar on' in the console and I get a dot over my character with my name on it, and nothing else. After reading a few other threads apparantly there is a menu somewhere, but I can not find it anywhere on my screen :( . After going through the commands I still cant find a way to tweak it. Any and all help is appreciated, thank you!

radar zoomin or /radar zoomin depending on which way you use it. About 7 times is where I like it. Would be nice if it saved its last state so I didn't have to change it every time.

You can use the slider to change the range of what is shown, out to the limits of what the game allows you to see. I use 4 most of the time, unless I'm simply traveling and want to just get where I'm going and avoid contacts.

The menu is right in the radar window. You should see two "buttons" one says "SHOW" (alternately it says "HIDE") and the other says "SETTINGS". Press the settings one to get the box with all the little buttons for changing what things you see and what you don't, as well as the second tab that allows you to turn labels on and off, and other such goodies, like z axis.

If you see none of that, I suggest you close the game and go into ..\Inner Space\Extensions and send the files for the radar to the recycle bin. When you restart ISXVG it should recreate them properly. If not then you may need to get the program in the .NET section of the boards called VGSkin and put it in your ".NET Programs" and then open the Inner Space console and run it as explained in that post (use the link I gave "VGSkin").

This last will probably work best out of game and from the desktop console. I don't know if it is meant to work from ingame. I would think it should not.

I hope that helps.

I just posted a new eq2radar.xml a few days ago that added a few small tweaks (auto-hiding the buttons/titlebar, display of the zoom level). If the VG radar's based on that same UI file of Valerian's (it sounds like it is), you could probably merge those changes in pretty easily.

If we're using the same file or close to it, I'm more than happy to entertain suggestions of other improvements people might have. (Cosmetic stuff mostly, I can't do much with the actual workings of the blips)

I've never had a radar window. It has always been an overlay on my screen. I do use Drox UI but on the off chance that the UI was preventing this radar window, I reverted back to the default UI but still no radar window. I followed your
instructions but still no window. I don't mind really but now I'm curious. What file or setting determines whether its an overlay or a window. If I had to guess I would say:

<vgradar Name='Main Radar'>
<X>0</X>
<Y>0</Y>
<Width>100%</Width>
<Height>100%</Height>
<Visible>1</Visible>
I do like it as an overlay though but now I want buttons!

Did everything you said, and when i loaded the .net thing and tried to use the radar it said it had no xml file or whatever, so I reinstalled ISXVG and turned the radar on again and the same thing happened. Basically its a dot on my character with my name, and then when i zoom out about 6 times i see other dots that make sense location wise but they are ALL over the screen, and there is no skin. Its just dots with names next to it overlaying my screen. Is this how it is supposed to work?

Somehow I don't think you did what I suggested; rather I think you did what you thought I was suggesting instead.

Did you remove the three radar related files in the Extensions folder?
Did you run VGSkin.exe with the game closed (not minimized, not in background, but totally closed/not running) through the desktop console, which you can bring up by right clicking the red Inner Space targeting reticle in the taskbar and clicking on "console"?

If you did those things and you still do not have a proper window, I do not know what else to try. :(

I think what you are seeing is what it is supposed to look like, the dot with your name on should be in the middle and the other dots are resources, mobs etc. You obviously won't see anything but your dot (the one with your name on) if the radar is zoomed in and there are no mobs etc very near you. As you zoom out then dots appear on the radar indicating things slightly further away.

Grep, you could be right on the money.

dyeman, make a screenshot, crop the radar section from it and make it a jpg and post it here. Then we'll know exactly what you're seeing, and that may help the community help you.

I think he is having the same problem I have on one computer. I don't really use the radar function myself, so I haven't tried to fix it. All I see is a dot with my charachters name smack in the middle of my screen. This sounds like the same issue he is having. You are suppose to see a ui with show/hide, options, minimize, and close.

I also have this problem, but havent had the time to sit down and take a look at any solutions. Basically there is no UI whatsoever for the Radar. Just a dot with my name next to it smack in the middle of the screen.

I have a hunch its something to do with the DroxUI. I made a post regarding this but it never seemed to appear on the boards here.

Here is the link to the radar XML that your looking for. It's on the second page of the scripts listings. I had the same problem with radar as well, and replacing the xml file with this one is what got me back on track like before.

Thanks for the information, it should help a few people here.

It should be noted that in another thread about radar issues that Amadeus posted the following:

If those files are missing you'll need to redownload and reinstall isxvg. They come with the installer.

Yeah, go with the file downloads you can get from the first post in the thread from bohika. Yesterday, Cr4zyB4rd got the game and isxvg and the first thing he found was that ISXVG is installing the old simple radar information and not the proper info. So, until that is corrected directly downloading the files and replacing the ones that are created is your best option.

Sorry for the earlier runarounds, I have been running the radar fine and didn't realize it was the installer.

To make it even easier here's the direct link to the files you need to fix the issue:

I will fix the installer later today if it's not fixed already. I can't remember if I updated it since I saw this thread or not.

One thing also to remember about the installer: It won't overwrite any files that have had modifications made to them. So, if you have altered your isxvgradar.xml file at all, the installer shouldn't/won't change it.
