Ranger Issues

I know, Rangers are a pain...that being said I have mine working pretty good with the exception of a couple of frustrating items:

First, I've banged my head against this for several hours today but no matter what I do I can't get exploit weakness to work - at all. I've tried:

-Respecced for it
-Performed Ogre Spell export
-Verified it is listed in both XML file and in the CA list
-Tried turning off auto attack timing just in case it was being skipped
-Turned on debugging and pored over it many times but can't find not trace at all of it being used
-Verified within EQ2 logs that it is telling me I see a weakness - cross referenced the time against Ogre debugging but again nothing found

The ONLY thing I have found that is odd is the text that is showing in EQ2 when it 'triggers' that I see a weakness. The text from the log is:

"\#FF9900You can see a weakness in your enemy's defenses!"
"You begin to see your enemy's weakness. This may be a good time to exploit it!"

The first line starts out awfully strange and I wonder if whatever syntax check is being done is being thrown off.

2. The Ranger DPS is gimped on many battles due to insufficient range from mob. Is there anything I can adjust to increase the separation when the Ranger moves behind the mob. I also see a ton of "GetAbilityMaxRange failed" in the Ogre debug, not sure if that is related.

Edit: Forgot one item: Whenever I load Ogre for the first time or reload, the Exploit Weakness button is turned off. I turn it on and save profile every time but it never sticks for some reason. Not sure if that is related to the problem I am having.

Are you using v15 or v14? (When you load ogrebot it tells you). If it's v14 it's possible the saving wasn't working correctly. If that's the case, it's more than likely it wasn't seeing it was checked when that message was going off.

If it's v15 then I'll see if I can find someone to help me test.

Right now there isn't any way to specify to tell that you want to be further away from the mob. I may see if I can setup a way to specify, the issue is every single mob has a different "range". So I use some various methods to try to keep the melee range correct.. which of course doesn't work well with rangers.

Found the issue with rangers EW. It will be fixed when I release the next patch (patch 90 - more than likely 15.008).

This fix should fix it not working, and not saving.

Not to completely high jack the thread but if V15 officially released or is this still under testing?

I only asked because after reading this thread I checked my assassin's pc and he is still running v14 and all is well. But if V15 is out it didn't auto update on any of my computers unless I am suppose to manually patch ogre. :D

I have it set specifically so V14 doesn't patch to v15. Right now I'm allowing open testing to v15, but it does require a manual download of an install file that patches to v15. V15 will be out "shortly" once I get a bit more stuff done. It's pretty much completed, but I want more profiles.

Which V15 profiles do you need? I would be open to downloading and setting up a spec or 2. I have a raid tonight, so I can do it tomorrow.

I'll help as well if I can. I am in no hurry to patch but if its basically complete I can patch and test if you need more testers or wait until the official release.

Ranger issue workaround?

I know the range is a bit of a blight. Is it possible to designate a CA or two...or something that it checks are usable when the mob is first engaged to get "the right range"? I'd expect every mob with the same exact name would have the same size hit box...so it might even be possible to cache/store the setting (if desired). The variation in hit box size is an utter pain...so i get this is a PITA probably not worthy of distraction (who cares about rangers anway, right? *lol*).

Still, as a work-around for the constant swapping back to melee auto-attack, can we please get an "override" button that forces ranged attacks only? I know it's a pain if you get too close...and it'll cause you to stop auto-attacking...but it still swaps back to melee attacks constantly. The override may just be temporary, but I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks for the work Kannkor....and I do understand the oddities with rangers (after chatting with you in irc and working through some odd settings like the ones that cause blue AE's to always fire).
