Ranger move-behind-mob issue

Sorry for being noob if this issue has been addressed previously...

I can't check the move-behind-mob option on for my ranger as the default distance is too near for a ranger to keep ranging. I wonder if there is anyway to customize the distance between mob and the moving behind toon. Also, I have to drop the melee ca for my ranger because whenever he melees the autoattack automatically change to melee auto and thus he lose dps.

Has anyone experienced similar situation?

Unfortunately there's very limited ranger support anywhere. I had them working perfectly previously, then SOE went through and changed things (late last xpac I think). I haven't taken the time to go re-do everything I did before for 1 class that very few people play.

The melee ca -> auto attack thing is an in-game "feature", and I don't believe there is any way to disable it.
