Ry'Gorr Faction - Strategy?

I wanted to see if anyone had any proven method, suggestion, or advice as how to gain Ry'Gorr faction. This is more geared towards upping faction with a boxed setup up to 6 toons at one time. I've always been a hardcore exp grinder and hardly completed any quests during my run in EQ2 but it is my understanding that Ry'Gorr armor is the best shard armor and adornments you can get besides raiding.

Typically with faction quests you get a solo quest which can be completed every 18 hours or so. Does anyone have any other method to raise this faction? Is there somewhere to go to just slaughter mobs to raise faction as well?

I'm still digging through ZAM and Wikia but haven't found any solid info on faction timelines for it just yet.:(

Ry'Gorr faction questlines will only take you to ~10k before you're only left with the 200 faction repeatable. After that your options are:

1) Do PQ's and trade in the Cloudy Jewel to the Ry'Gorr merchant for faction. Each gem is 500 faction IIRC, and you can get a maximum of 4 jewels a day(either by running each PQ twice at sub X3 difficulty or running each once at X3+ which will reward two jewels)
2) Run the Kael instances. The named in each instance give a faction boost(~300 for all the named in an instance), and the daily shard quest in the instance awards 350 faction as well
3) Farm contested KD, although this is very slow as each kill only awards a tiny amount of action(+5? Something like that)

Note, you only need 20k for the adornments. If you have a level 90 crafter, you're better off running the Mara tradeskill missions as they'll drop a recipe book that allows you to craft the armor without having to gain the faction and at a reduced shard price.

The armor requires a gem in addition to the shards, whether you craft it or buy it. A rough version of the gem drops from the KD instance named and randomly from normal giants(sub 1% chancce). This needs to be refined by a tradeskiller(into a Scintillating version), the recipe for which requires 30k faction for the Thurgadin crafters(run the questing timeline and then do the daily repeatedable for ~5 days).

Alternatively, you can buy the scintillating version of the gems on the broker. Black Marble and Emerald should be cheap, Diamond and Lava Ruby a bit more expensive and until GU60 Citrine and Jaundice will be non-existent as they're an ultra rare drop from random contested KD giants and/or from a single X2(iirc) named in contested KD.

Not that this would probably be viable.. but you get a shit ton of faction from raiding.. :)

My raid toon is at 50k and I haven't done a single quest.

Thanks for the info Macker, its exactly what I was looking for. Does it matter what type of crafter it is that's 90 or can they all make any type of armor?

And Kraankor, I suppose I could find a part-time raiding guild to join if I absolutely had too..haha. But after raiding since launch, I'm having a blast 6 boxing instances for now and with my schedule it just works out better. But if I am going to progress into the harder instances I'll have to figure something out :D

Any crafter will do, the recipes are Artisan.

And for those curious, a new set of armor was added in GU60 to upgrade Ry'Gorr, adding 3-4 more CM to all pieces and giving focus effects to the helm and shoulder slots. The new armor requires shards and a certain amount of ore which is created from legendary or fabled items that drop in the new instances.

The recipe books are from running the new tradeskill quest in Drunder from the chained up golem. Takes ~30 minutes if you have a flying mount and the Velious portal paintings.

Well as a mini update, I ran the crafting instance last night and on my first attempt of doing that brutally long and boring quest, the Volume II book dropped :D Now, if I only had more than 39 shards per toon....

Macker....

I got the all the recipe books for my TS'ers the day of the release. Is the " Aspect of War " the item you are referring to for the armor mute? Or is it the recipe book that says " requires a <whatever> item from <insert new instance name here> ?

Thanks...
