vg improvements in last 6 mo's?

Been away for 6 mo's or so and the temporary re-activation of my accounts by sony has peaked my interest again. I used to be pretty involved in vgcraftbot and supporting it, but rl took me away from vg a while back.

I'm just curious how the game is doing from the botting perspective. I know it was either as I was leaving or shortly after I left that they started cracking down on the porting and hence it was removed (no suprise there i guess). Are they continuing the 'bot hunt' or is typical just don't do stupid stuff and you are fine? I know eq basically doesn't give a crap anymore as long as you aren't disturbing other's gameplay.

Is the overall gameplay, performance and stability better? I know i used to crash quite a bit when chunking, but then again I'd crash just slightly less without isxvg running to, so who knows.

Any info appreciated, thx.

Nothing has changed except people reported that the :Sprint and :port methods were causing them to be banned. I have no way of verifying that; however, I did make them not work by default (people have to email me to have those methods turned on).

However, all of the other non 'hackish' type things work just as they always did as far as I can tell. No one has been maintaining any of the bots really, so I suppose there could be bugs here and there; however, SOE is not doing anything any differently than they do on their other games.

Good to see you back spudman. The game itself has gotten a lot better, performance wise. Hasn't been much new content script wise here for a bit, but hopefully that will change with new peeps.

I'm still waiting for a serviceable Market/Broker bot to make the job of a guild banker easier.

If i knew this language better, i would definately have all this stuff down. But so far the extent of my knowledge is hack and slashing existing scripts to do some of my mundane tasks, but notthing special. =(

Good to see you back Spudman.

To answer a couple questions, which you probably have already figured out: Crashing is quite low on the scale, of course depending on how good your machine is to begin with. VG has made some very nice strides from where it was in that respect.

There doesnt seem to be any 'hunting' going on, at least that I've heard of lately. I'd say as long as you're not being completely ignorant you'll be fine.

As far as scripting goes, there arent many who know and maintain any of the current scripts so I cant say exactly what changes you'll find on the back end when tweaking the current bots.
