I just started playing EQ2 a couple of months ago and only a few weeks ago discovered isxEQ2.

My question: Will there ever be any more updates to any of the scripts?

I've noticed most of them were last updated in 2008.

I paid for isxEQ2 but it seems like kind of a waste if most of the scripts are outdated.

Most of them still work.

I hate to openly admit this...but, the best adventurer script is Ogre Bot...the worst part is it costs more money for it. I understand the "why's", but it does cost more. Worth it if you have the scratch though.

When you signed up for ISXEQ2, there is a little blurb that goes something like this... Your subscription to ISXEQ2 grants you 2 things... Use of the extension, and free updates when they are available.

All scripts (well, almost all, Amadeus did make/help with a bunch) are developed, and posted by other paying users, much like yourself.

At this stage, I would say you have 4 options.
1) Learn to code and write a bot that uses ISXEQ2. This is by far the most complex and requires the most work.
2) Learn the basics of coding, and update the eq2bot class files. Also, others have done this and posted their updates on the forums. So you are welcome to use those also.
3) Use the scripts as they are, that are available (such as EQ2bot).
4) Pay someone to write a brand new bot for you, pay someone to update any class files you want, or subscribe to Ogrebot ($15 for 3 months).

EQ2Bot still works just as well as it ever did, and is very effective for controlling your characters (I would use it if I were still playing.) The reason it's not changed since 2008 is because the fundamentals of the game haven't changed since 2008. It's completely up-to-date and works just fine with the current version of EQ2.

EQ2Bot is the free, Ogre is the 'premium'. Just like with most things, both will work and both will work just fine -- it's just up to you what you want to use and what's important to you.
