3/31 Forced Patch

Yup again.. Looks like they patched a DLL and the client.exe and thats it.

I think it might be PQ's. Just about every patch that mentions 'improved PQ server performance' seems to be forced. Like today's 'Storm Gorge has been extensively restructured to improve performance and playability.' or Tuesday's forced patch that said 'Improved server performance during public quests.'

This is certainly a possibility. Anything that would change the socket communication between client and server would make for a forced patch -- even if nothing else changed.

Or, it could be that they are making every patch forced now. There's no way to tell until we come across one that isn't.

We've had one since the xpac that wasn't forced. I think only 1... Not saying they all won't be forced patches going forward.. but just saying we did have 1.

All of the patches that had a new executable were forced. The patch you're referring to must have been server-side only, which would obviously not be forced since you're still using the same executable regardless.

Did you watch that video from an Eve post? It's 53min long, but it talks about aggressive bot detection. might be worth watching.

CCP could reduce the botting and hacking in EVE by about 90% with two small changes. Any hacker could give them that information.

The presentation is long/scary/stupid because now they've hired someone and he making sure he has job security by making the job seem big/long/important/etc.
