A Question for Veteran ISXEQ2/OGRE operators

As I get more deeply involved in boxing with the help ISXEQ2 and Ogre its time to seek advice with my rigs upgrade path. currently running six(6) boxes from 1 rig.

Current rig: 980X @ 4.0Ghz // 6GB DDR3 @ 1600Mhz // SLI GTX 480 // 24" LCD // 2x7200 HDD // W7x64 OS. // EVGA Classified III mobo

Option 1: Upgrade ram from 6GB to:
- 12GB @ 2000?
- 24GB @ 1600?

Option 2: Get a second rig and KVM it? to run 3:3 boxes per rig or 4:2 boxes
spec: 920hz @ 3.7 // 6GB DDR3 @ 1600mhz // 1GPU //

TBH Boxing is a form playstyle in eq2 since not only can I help out guildies run through zones much more efficiently by controlling most of the groups actions, with Ogre's help my group even performs well in raids. Whether be it soloing the EM SF bosses or what have you.

Thanks in advance

Running 6 boxes I would have to agree with Kannkor.
Besides its nice to have a back up machine just in case. I would look into running a SSD drive also. Since I added my SSD as my main drive once I am past the mobo bios i am logged in to windows in 7 seconds and I only have 6gigs ram.

Sure you boot faster with a SSD, but does it make an MMO faster?

I have had friends play MMOS with a SSD and the only place it could possibly speed up game performance would be in zoning, but server communication required during that made it not speed up. Just curious as to if you noticed any difference with EQ2 itself.

Zoning and things that required HD access are definetly faster. The only thing i really noticed was when i was boxing with ISBoxer the screen that was not active would be a little laggy. After the SSD its runs much smoother. I am on a 6mb cable connection so it was always pretty fast anyways.

Im a old vanguard player and that game was pretty HD intensive and when I switched to the SSD i saw a enormous boost but it was a different game.

If you go with the second box, look into a program called Stardock Multiplicity. I've been using it for years and it rocks.

Mouse and keyclone. Unless you for some reason want to have to drag a single mouse pointer through 3-4 screens to click on shit.
