coercer script and others

Hi all,

I need some help!! I have been using ISXeq2 for over 6 months now and haven’t had any issues with any of the scripts. I have run a pally, mystic, troub, swash, dirge, illy, templar, assassin in group setups without any issue in the past. I have 3 computers using ISboxer, though I only use 2 of the computers for the most part – boxing 3 on one, and 1-2 on the other. About 2 months ago, I tried using both the monk and bruiser scripts to no avail. Buffs would be casted, but no melee would occur in either situation – assisting a tank or being the main tank/assist. I tried with a warden, same situation – buffs casted, no melee ( when engage in melee is checked in the UI), no spells casted ( heals or dmg). I gave up.

This brings me to my current dilemma -- the illy (and script) has been working fine. A few days ago, the illy was betrayed to a coercer and now the scripts doesn’t want to work. Buffs are casted – no problems with that; script will not start attacking. It will not work on either computer. I have tried bobthebuilder’s script; I have deleted the .iss and .xml files – used SVN to obtain the current version of the script, and it just doesn’t want to attack. I have cycled through all the different settings within the coercer UI and no success. (buffs are casted, no attack) I did notice that when coercer script was started, the UI was considerably more opague than any of the other UIs I currently run with the other toons on either computer.

Let’s see, I have also deleted the character file and allowed it to set up a new one; no luck. I have tried running this script on both computers – same results. I have tried unloading and loading isx.  In the console window, after the script is run, I get no line by line activity for the most part. In some longer fights, the console will show cure arcane; sometimes will show no target for the MAINASSIST when there is a mainassist. It will not, however, show any lines of text pertaining to movement while attacking (like the QUADRANT messages) OH, these are all level 90 toons with myth conversions and with either master or expert spells. I haven’t uninstalled ISX and reinstalled it.. should I?

Am I missing something? I’m going crazy here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated at this point – I want to get some dps out of the coercer. Heck, I would be happy to just get the script to work fully. :)

Not sure why it is not working for you.

But if you don't like the opacity then remark out the line in the ISS "UIElement[EQ2 Bot]:SetAlpha[0.3]"

Granted, I don't know if this is your issue, BUT...

Each class has it's own file. When you betrayed from Illy to coercer your toon would now be using a different class file hence if the coercer file was crappy it wouldnt work (again, i dunno if this is your issue).

see the delay from 18:52:59 to 18:55:13.. and to 18:59:10.. I pulled many groups in between those times and no attacks.. /boggle

If you want the Coe to melee then you need to select the option for Nullify Staff and then the Coe will melee.

If your talking about just doing spell attacks then that is auto once the Coe engages in combat. Do you have the sliders set high enough, say around 15 or 20 meters? The Coe won't run in to melee unless Nullify Staff is selected and won;t cast spells unless the mob is close (15 - 20 meters or whatever it is set as).

I know damn well the script works, i've been using it heavily with no modification since SoF release.

Do this, start the script, in a group or solo, and unselect a few of the buffs like Breeze or Destructive Mind and then select them, does the Coe cast? If so then your good to go just make sure the Engage within MT Range is set far enough so the Coe will actually cast or select the Null Staff so the Coe will go in and mellee.

What does the main tab of eq2bot report the Coe is doing? is it stuck on buffing, the latest Coe I uploaded to SVN is set with the "broken" Myth (meaning the spells are broken off of the fabled / mythed 1hs weapon).

If you havent completed the Epic Repercussion quest then maybe that is the issue, open the ISS and remark out the cast selection. Try it then.

Attached is my latest Coe that I have been running for several months. I know it works (if your Myth/Fabled is broken).

Both sliders have been moved up and down while I have been troubleshooting, but I do have then in the range you suggested - Coercer doesn't run in to melee /sigh does nothing for the most part. As I mentioned previously, every now and then, he will cast dmg spells ... and the console will show QUADRANT, MAINASSIST, and FALSE messages.

Unselecting Breeze and DM - Coercer doesn't cast or engage. I'll play some more with the MT range. :)

Coercer does cast DM when its up - seems. It does seem to pick up the target from the MA/MT but stays IDLE unless DM is up.. and has no problem casting that. Oh, for the longer fights.. if the MT needs arcane cure, Cure arcane will show up in the ACTION area and cocercer will cure. go figure. When he does randomly cast, the spells will show up in the ACTION area. Casting and maintaining buffs seems to be working fine.

Completed. I don't believe that is the issue.

And then it should be followed by CheckPosition lines? if the script is working as intended?


Gonna try uninstalling ISX and reinstalling later tonight as a last resort - though I'm not sure why that would fix things. .as they are not broken with the other toons.

Well, I did some playing around in SoH.. put the coercer on the 2nd computer and guess what? NO melee, no dmg spells, /sigh It will loot corpses, it will buff, just no dmg.

It should be cycling through buffs when first started.

Make sure the MT and MA are set for the correct player in your group, you are grouping right? I've never tested / played the Coe not in a group.

Yes, it does cycle through the buffs.. something like Buffing x.. where x= a number.
After a pull, the coercer does nothing.. nothing shows up in the console after the starting eq2bot message and the one time initialization message.

Now, during a fight.. current action: (in the main tab) shows "out of combat checking mezzes" - repeats over and over -
and the current target matches what the MT/MA is actually targetting.

Oh, I went ahead and ran the coercer script on my 3rd computer (first time with the coercer on this machine) and same results. :confused: It will buff and loot - will do no damage of any sort.

So, I'm thinking the problem must lie in the character file or the UI xml file - at this point I have no friggin idea. Maybe you can post your current .xml and character file ( i can just change the name) ? that probably isn't the problem. I'll spend some more time looking at those files.. and see if i can figure something out.

Again, thanks for the direction :)

Delete the Character Config XML file and let it create a new one, no reason to use mine. But I think I already said that ...

Make sure you delete the Character Config file then restart.
Turn off mezzing and try it, maybe its trying to mezz something...

So uncheck the boxes for Charm, Mezz, Snap Whatever...

Already been done.. many times :)

And, unchecking mezzing will just cause the action line to stay: idle

Ok, heres another twist in this saga.. the acct that the coercer is on has many other 90s for which i have had script problems with. I decided to try all of them today.
90 Monk, 90 Defiler, 90 Warden, 90 Templar, 90 Fury... - All these toons have no problem casting buffs and/or Healing / Warding. I can't get the script to do any damage either melee or range. Sometimes I will get the Ranged Attack bar but the toon just stands there. And of course, all the toons know how to lootcorpse. LOL

I'm beginning to wonder if something in the game settings is causing this. I think I will reset all the in-game settings to default. Since noone else has responded other than Bob, my situation is pretty unique. LOL

you're lucky ...

my coercer stays at buffing 1 to 11 in circle in the main windows, but it do not buff anything and do absolutly nothing :/

after the update with bob file it only say in group PoM is up bla but do not cast it either :confused:

i've the broken myth etc .. :/

Sorry guys, my EQ2 subscriptions have lapsed and I haven't the cash at the moment to renew any of them. I am pretty sure that the Coe script I posted worked on 6/5/2010... But I can't test it any longer ...

Here is a Coe script that I had from 5/17 that I know 100% did work. Try this one attached. Maybe run a compare on the two, see what I changed... maybe I did break it and didn't realize it ...

i had issues like this as well. check the spell lists something changed recently and somewhere near the 81-90 spells something was added that looked off so i deleted it. it says something like mine---------------------then more spell names and such. i am at work so i cannot give specific examples but try and delete and reload spell lists or look at what was changed. warden coercer troub were my problem toons

That is a good point, it is possible that the Coe script is calling a spell (by number) that is not listed in your spell file. Make sure your spell file is up to date and has all the correct 81-90 spells in it.

My coercer script works, but he constantly tries to cast a spell that is no longer available. More of a nuisance so I didn't look into it. Will do so now.

UPDATE: Don't know if any of you have this issue but my spell lists on a lot of classes stop at 80.

I use Bob's Coercer script and it works fine never had a problem with it in the not atacking thing he does like 5-11k dps.

With the spell list edit in notepad 81-90 just copy and paste.

have tested both script and not better, nothing work at all :confused:

i've done all the translation everywhere it's needed to match my localization server but nothing :/

it loop saying buffing 1 ..... to ...... 11

or stop at Combat Checking Power

i've read all the lines in the .iss for a couple hours and I don't understand why it's not working :confused:

i've all the ability from 81 to 90 in my xml listed

While in combat on the Coe press the ATTACK button so the Coe goes into combat.

I have had problems were bot's don't go into combat, seems like an EQ2 issue the toon just doesn't enter combat. Some one reported it was a problem with EQ2bot casting a spell while zoning but dunno... again enter the group (MT) into combat and then switch over to the Coe and press the ATTACK button... does the Coe enter combat?

You fail at eq2bot settings. Read the wiki page and maybe you'll understand.

Your toon isn't casting cause its not entering the combat routine.

It isn't entering the combat routine because:
A) You haven't properly set an assist target
B) Your assist target isn't targeting a valid target
C) You have enabled your assists current target as valid (see options sub tab)
D) You've set an assist range that is shorter than the distance between the Tank and the assist target.

So, turn up your ranges, make sure your not ignoring any target types, and verify you've set a MA and MT and they're actually targeting something and its health is below the threshold you set.

The bot is highly customizable as such, to be proficient at it, you must take time to understand what each option impacts.

i have tried in group and solo on the training dummy, even if y forme him to auto attack with melee, or make him in Autohunt with spell to pull it's not doing anything at all (except the pulling spell btw ...)

so i'm stuck :confused:

all other scripts works well, i play 10 differents class without any problems

I just don't have tried illy script, but only the coercer one is failing:(

Wow, that was pretty harsh. :confused: I have read the wiki page a few times and while I'm clearly not a programmer of any sort, I have been learning the scripts and the functions of EQ2Bot.

Your toon isn't casting cause its not entering the combat routine.
I realized that some days ago - a few days ago, the coercer was attacking some mobs in one of the instances. It was entering the combat routine then - but it was pretty random. Almost all pulls, the toon did nothing.

It isn't entering the combat routine because:
A) You haven't properly set an assist target
The coercer does have the correct assist in the TARGET box - matches the assist of the MT.

B) Your assist target isn't targeting a valid target
The MT pulls a valid target, enters combat, script runs no problems. No problems with the troub, mystic, and swash toons/scripts also.

C) You have enabled your assists current target as valid (see options sub tab)
Options sub tab? Not sure what you are refering to, here.

D) You've set an assist range that is shorter than the distance between the Tank and the assist target.
I've bumped up the ranges.. in fact, i have virtually tried all the ranges.. LOL.. from low to high.. no luck whatsoever :(

Ranges upped, all ignore types are unchecked, MA & MT are one and the same and when health is lower than the threshold, - nothing.

At this point, I'm trying to understand the routines in the script (.iss).. I see where the combat routine INIT section is.. just not sure what to look for or what to do to make a change. I do understand that at least one person has posted that he/she has had no problems whatsover with bob's script; though 2 people have posted also that they have issues with it. My initial post was not meant to be a complaint of any kind, I really appreciate the work you have done and will gladly continue the subscription for as long as I play. :) Heck, this is one way to get really familiar with how the scripts work with eq2bot.


While in combat on the Coe press the ATTACK button so the Coe goes into combat.
Bob, pressing the ATTACK button in combat yields basically one attack. It stops attacking right after the first attack

Delete or rename your coercers config XML file, then run eq2bot again and see if that helps your problem. Alternatively, manually edit the xml file to see if you have something in there that is throwing it off. I've had it happen where the config file had a text character that wasn't showing on the eq2bot UI.

I had the same problem as described above and dont know if it will help anyone, but when you first run and start the EQ2 Bot Coercer script for some reason I was getting another 0 after assist Main Assist at Health 99% ie 990%

By taking out the 0 it returns to 99% and works without being stuck at buffing...

I am not sure if this is just me tbh, but thought I would mention incase you had the same issue

I've been continueing to raid on my coercer using the bot on the svn.

It casts, it spams mis-spelled words thanks to Bob, and it generally does what its supposed to do, just at about 50% of the dps it should be putting out.

I'm going to clean up the script when I have time and probably revert it back to my version with a few changes.

However, your bot not entering the combat routine is cause you've either corrupted some settings in your character.xml or you've set things incorrectly.

With the bot running, you can echo setting to see if they are correct.

echo out the various important settings and make sure it is reporting what you've selected in your UI.

Or, get on IRC and catch me on to diagnose with you. But I'm 100% confident this isn't a 'coercer' issue, its a settings issue for eq2bot.

If you like, add an echo to the first line of the combat script in coercer.iss like echo Combat Starting!.

If this is being echo'd but no spells cast, then we've got an issue with the coercer file.

Tried this latest one and it wont work for my coercer it keeps saying "This spell or ability is no longer avaliable"

It just spams that over and over .
