Harvesting with Innerspace (currently)

I don't mind helping out to test beta scripts at all, I love what we have and want to continue to support the scripters. I also want scripts that work. The older harvester program worked fine for me and was not in beta and I had no issues with it. I would much rather donate money here than have to spend that money on yet another program that can deliver harvesting with no restrictions. The reason behind the 2 hour limitation imo is rediculous considering the scripts that already exist and are in use on this site.

Imagine my surprise when I updated SVN and could not use the harvester I have been using since I joined. Not only this, but spent an entire night setting up Ogre harvest and it still has many bugs/freezes/stops/ect. And it's still in BETA.

I am excited about the new harvesting program, I am sure it will be excellent once the kinks are worked out and it can function with EQ2bot (which it currently cannot), however to take away something that works and replace it with a BETA script that semi works is imo frustrating and serves to push away other members.

the issue is that the old harvest script was built on technology within innerspace that is no longer supported / being removed. Would you rather beta test a new harvest or not have one at all?

As far as the 2 hour limit, it was put there in order to help protect the community as a whole. Like it or not that is what kannkor decided he wanted to do so that is what he did. If you don't like it, learn to script and write your own unlimited bot.

I'd rather the script was left alone until such time as the new BETA script was no longer in BETA and functional as it was designed to be. (Currently it isn't).

And as I stated in my above post, I would much rather donate to the scriptors, say a copy of the new expansion as was asked for in IRC, than go and spend the money on yet another program that will do as I want with no restrictions. However if it is to be that way, then it is what it is.

Had I the desire to learn to script on my own, I would, as it stands I'd rather pay for it. Hence what I am doing here.

There is a flaw in your logic here. If people arnt forced to update, they never will (look back at the digital transition in the US. After all of the commercials and everything, some people still had no clue what was going on). In programing, things that appear stable to a small group of users may not be stable for everyone and that isn't something that is found out until it goes main stream. The people using Ogre Harvest were using it just fine with minimal issue. Maybe if you had tested it out in the months before and found issues, you could have reported them / had them fixed before the old harvest was removed.

But we don't pay the scriptors to do there work, innerspace is removing the navigation used in the old harvest and has been wanting to remove it for years due to it's buggy nature and now he can. Ogre may say beta however it really hasn't been beta for sometime and works quite well.

How is my logic flawed when I am asking for a script that does what it says it does? Now since I cannot get this script to do what it says, I am forced to go and utilize a different program that will do as advertised and not have limitations placed on it. I have been using these types of programs for years, never been suspended/banned or warned. As I said I would rather donate the funds here, but I cannot due to having to go elsewhere to get what I have used in the past with success.

Had I known about it, I would have been more than happy to test it out. Is there a place we can be updated about new scripts that need to be tested? A way to get the word out to all the members? I knew he was working on a new harvester and I was actually looking for it for some time on the General forums but never saw anything. Maybe a forum titled BETA to test out new scripts would be great or Announcements? I don't know the answer.

I said nothing about paying scriptors. I said donating. If the fundamental navigation system is being removed for compatibilities sake, then I completely understand. If it's being removed just because, then that's silly.

It is being removed because it is broken and has been replaced by a better system. If you dont like that take it up with lax ;)

Also, the ogre harvest post you have replied to several times has been in that forum for months. Become a part of the community other than coming to complain when things start work and you will see new posts / scripts as they are released.

Was there really a need to go there? Could I have looked under Scripts? Yes. Could there be a better way to communicate to members when new scripts need to be tested? Yes.

As it stands I understand better now and am going to drop it. If you feel the need to continue the discourse we can do so in PM's. It serves no purpose here for the other members.

You're just going to have to accept that the powers that be around here are in agreement that we will not release public scripts that enable extended amounts of AFK activity. This is a policy that all us 'old hats' are in agreement on and its a policy in place to protect YOU and all other members of this community.

I understand you may have liked the old harvester. I spent many hours keeping it alive. updated, and adding features to it. However, it is a horrible application that couldn't possibly be more easy to be flagged as a botter and banned (as has happened by many, many users).

The new harvest kannkor has is sufficiently far enough along that I have ended the lifecycle on the old harvest.

Your options are to use the new tools, write your own tools (and keep them private), or move on to some other toolset other than isxeq2.

On that note though, expect eq2bot 3.0 to have a timeout on afk activity as well.

Care to elaborate a little bit? I don't afk bot using eq2bot as I always am playing at least one of the screens. Will I be forced to take afk breaks?

You will not have any issues.

To clarify, there will be a timeout for eq2bot running with pulls on or running as MT. The timeout will be quite liberal (2-4 hours).

I've already seen eq2bot users running 12 hour afk camps in the hole. This is an activity that anyone with the tool should no is irresponsible, and if it becomes more prevalent as it disrupts people trying to do quests, SoE will be motivated to take additional steps against us.
