Just wanted to share this with you

I called to transfer a toon to another account today and was asked if i was going to be using it to multi-box. I said yes because to my knowledge multiboxing has always been ok, just not botting. He then stated that since last patch they no longer support more then 1 client per pc, and that for now tho he would email me a work around. This was the replay below:

Unfortunately, Sony Online Entertainment does not support multi-boxing OR logging into multiple accounts on one PC simultaneously. As of the last patch, this functionality has been removed completely.

That being said, I can provide you with the following work-around for your multi-account needs:
1. Download the EverQuest 2 Installer again from the following link
Removed link so you dont screw your shortcuts up :)
2. Run EQII_setup, and in the first screen of the installation wizard change the Install Folder to a *New* directory (EG: C:\Sony2). Finish the installation.
3. Launch your original Launchpad --> Login to one account --> Hit Play.
4. Next, Launch the newly-installed Launchpad from the new directory --> Login to the second account --> Hit Play.
5. Enjoy playing on several accounts at once!

I can't guarantee that this will work forever, but hopefully it provides a fix for what you are trying to accomplish.

If you have any other questions or issues please don't hesitate to contact us again and we'll be happy to assist you.

Obviously im not going to do that since i run innerspace. However i just wanted people to know that they dont even like it when we multi box legit anymore?
Seems another step towards making the soloers happy by restricting us to 1 client per pc?
Anyway does anyone else have any thought on this, or info i have not read stating this?

Just note that the only known issues with running 2 instances of EQ2 on the same machine is with the streaming client due to the way it streams.

If i had to guess, this is an uninformed CSR that thinks he knows more than he really does.

and i just tested multiple patched/current clients with no issue (not streaming) so im with hendrix (ouch that was painful).

With that patch they removed the way to get a non-streaming patcher.

So all new installs will have this issue.

The old clients still work though, right?

Honestly, we just need to package the client we've all been using since 2005 (minus all of the files that the patcher will grab), and then put it on a torrent.

Or, am I missing something?

Yes, the old client still works. SOE will not support any issues that might happen with it though. Also, from what I hear, SOE is going to stop supporting the Station Launcher as well in favor of some other client soon.

The only issue I know of with the "old launcher" is in Windows 7 it creates a new launch icon in the games menu everytime you start the game.

There's more to it than "windows 7". Because MANY of us use windows7 and have never seen anything like this. While I believe an issue exists, it's not "windows7" doing it, it's something that you have done. Either with an install of a program (which could include a windows 7 setting), or a pre-installed OS from a company (like dell, HP etc).

I have 2 Windows7 machines I use, and both were standard windows7 installs and I have never gotten this.

Same as Kan I play on a standard win 7 comp and had 6 accounts running fine on it today for about 6 hours with no accounts bugging or crashing.

Actually it isn't something I did. There is a 3 page post on the SOE boards about it with multiple people having the same issue. Someone even built a little app that will clean up the menu.

It was a bugged launcher, which has since been fixed. SOE has so many launchers out there it's hard to keep track, but I think it's the original launcher that downloads everything and is 1 simple EXE (EQ2.exe - I think I've copied that to a computer before, and it downloaded everything it needed by itself without any other files), then you have the 'SOE Game launcher' that has features like chatting with people when not in game, then they launched the even newer launcher, and a streaming client.

maybe just add it to the archive of everquest2.exe files kind of in it's own section above the others? since all you need is the EQ2.exe file to use the old patcher

What new launcher? I'm currently using the Station Launcher one.

A red name posted this on 12/15

Actually, we have four Launchers currently. :\

Launchpad 1 (the one that came with EQII in 2004)
Station Launcher
Launcher 3
Streaming Client
Streaming Client and Launcher 3 look very similar, but aren't the same. And in fact, I hopped in here to give a preliminary heads up that sometime after the launch of DoV, we will be discontinuing Launchpad 1 and moving everyone to Launcher 3. But don't worry, it's not the Streaming Client so you won't be forced to do the streaming thing.

I'll have much more info after DoV. We'll probably start a "Hey, you should change to the new Launcher soon" campaign for a few weeks before it becomes mandatory to change to the new one. Our support teams (the dev team doesn't make the launcher clients, it's another team) can't keep supporting so many versions of launchers...they also support all the launchers for the entire SOE portfolio of games. So in the interest of saving everyone some time and eliminating outdated elements that they can't keep running at 100%, we'll be moving all games to the Launcher 3 launchers.

I know it sounds scary, but it'll be good. But we don't have to worry about that just yet. Let's get through our mergers and the holidays and the expansion first.

Uh just use one eq2 folder and use isboxer from innerspace i click run on my main pc and all my other pc's game fire up.. and you dont need multiple eq2 folders you could just use the 1 anyway even if you dont use the isboxer option.,

If you are using the streaming client you have to have multiple folders. Outside of that, you are correct. Only 1 eq2 folder is needed.

You guys make me chuckle... I can't think of a single reason why I'd use more than 1 eq2 folder. The (20gb?) of space just isn't worth copying.

All depends...

If you're using a raptor drive or SSD, HD space is very important.
Although you are right, you could buy a 1TB SSD, it's only $3000 for the drive.

Saves the screen name? .. lol. You're using ISXEQ2.. which is automation software... Anything repetitive SHOULD get automated.. Shit, I'm so lazy I can double click 1 icon that loads 6 sessions over 3 computers, and logs in the appropriate toon, and loads OgreBot. Sure that's getting a little more advanced than your standard user. But there are qutie a few automated log-in tools around.

This is just in general, but if you find anything very repetitive, I would search the forums and ask if anyone has automated it yet.

Pfft, I use a dual hex core Xeon X5680's(3.33Ghz of puuuure power), with 192GB of RAM, 8 disk RAID0 SSD array attached to a 4GB BBWC RAID controller, with a tri-SLI 580GTX graphics system. For each EQ2 session.*

Seperate EQ2 folders? Hah.
