Most classes are very close so pick one of the following categories:Hi,
I am thinking about trying this game out. I haven't played it since it first came out. Can anyone give me some input on a trio group? I plan on botting the healer and boxing the other two or either botting two chars and playing one.
Thanks
I prefer Inquisitor as healer but I just like the purple plate look with gold boots *winks* and I like Coercer over Troub but yeah either work. I just have a hard time 'still' with botted melee toons. Just never seem to get into a melee position fast enough (when I pull with my SHK I pull 3 or 4 groups so like 12-16 mobs at once) and my melee bots just seem to run around and not do good melee dps. But I digress...Okay cool... I was thinking a bard would be a good one to have. I remember in eq1 they made the game so much faster/easier. What healer would go best with the bard/tank combo? The healer will be fully automated
Well.. if you plan to raid that's a whole different story. Trying to raid as a tank is VERY difficult. In the grand scheme of things, most guilds need 2 fighter classes in total. Chances of you getting a MT slot is VERY rare. Do what you want, but if you really want to raid, I'd think of doing it as a non-fighter.Okay. So I have a question about the SK. Why do yall recommend it? From reading around it seems that people/guilds choose guardians as their tanks and I have heard that it is hard to get into a raiding guild with the sk. If I stick with the game I will most likely use the tank as my guild char. What are the pros of going with the sk instead of a guardian?
I don't understand why people think because they want to raid, they can't bot...?Oh my trio isnt for raiding... but I would like to play one of them as a main in a guild. And I don't like healing manually. I just usually play a tank on other games so I figured I would go with a tank in this game with the end result hoping to raid.
I know that a healer bot will heal better than a person could (most times). I usually prefer a botted healer to a human healer because the bot can heal to my specific rules every time it throws a heal. I was saying that I would like to actually play one of my characters for raiding though and in previous games I enjoyed playing the tank. Not that I couldn't raid using a healing script... but I don't like playing healers in general. I am guessing that your comment was directed at my response... but I don't understand what it means really? I was asking about why the recommendation was to use the shadowknight over a guardian? I am new to the game. I didn't mean to insult your choice at botting a healer on a raid? I just don't enjoy watching everyone's health bars.I don't understand why people think because they want to raid, they can't bot...?
Tell you right now, my healer bots are better than 99% of all healers in the game. While a bot can't "predict" what will happen like a human, the bot can react MUCH faster than a human.
Ehh.. you didn't insult me. I was just short on time and was getting to the point. I agree with you, playing a healer (as the only toon) any time would be pretty boring.I know that a healer bot will heal better than a person could (most times). Okay good. Thanks for all the help =)Ehh.. you didn't insult me. I was just short on time and was getting to the point. I agree with you, playing a healer (as the only toon) any time would be pretty boring.
As Rooster mentioned, SK over Guardian because of DPS and ability to heal himself (where that doesn't help as much in raids when you are the MT).
I personally perfer Zerker over SK because Zerker has better AE dps (with Myth weapon or Myth Spell), and they have better (IMO) surviiability (Adren + Frenzy = godlike).
Either way, Guardian falls to 3rd (or 4th) place for plate tanks (Pally being the other one).
Then I'm doing it wrong.SK AE DPS > Zerk AE DPS... If your not seeing that, your doing it wrong.
I don't understand why people think because they want to raid, they can't bot...?

I think Kannkor uses his own scripts for his accounts. I don't think he uses eq2bot. Thus his scripts are probably pretty well tuned. Are you using the default eq2bot scripts? Because my defiler seems to fail at healing anyone other then the main tank (including itself) and sometimes just stands there not doing a damn thing while the tank dieing!![]()
^^^ - This is true. My bot uses an entire different setup than eq2bot, and yea.. any class I play gets that little extra love with my botI think Kannkor uses his own scripts for his accounts. I don't think he uses eq2bot. Thus his scripts are probably pretty well tuned.
In the end, I'm sure we can agree that Zerk and SK are probably the 2 best AE melee classes. You having 70% AE DPS requires you to have an Illy (I'm never with one, but different group setups), and you wasting adornments (wasting/using.. I guess matter of opinion). Zerks have 4.5 blue AE's. 4 that are on a usable reuse timer, and 1 that isn't (it's like 90sec reuse I think). With an Illy in group, my SK is at 70% AE DPS (40% aa/15% AoI/15% adorns). That as well as 8 (eight) blue AE's. I haven't played a Zerk since TSO but I only remember 3 blues and 1 green. In TSO Zerks were the king of tank AE DPS, wih SF i've certainly seen a difference. Weird thing is, with Battly Frenzy.. our raid Zerk out heals me a lot of the time. Also with AE auto attack, remember it only hits up to 4 mobs and they must be positioned in your 'cone' or whatever.
Sorry for going off topic =(
Okay.. My auto attack does indeed only hit 4 mobs.I disagree with my auto attack only hitting 4 mobs. However once I am done patching, I will test it out and report back my findings with test results.
Sure, it was a very limited test, but to me, it showed 180 degrees in front of you, which isn't a cone IMO.This "cone" is pretty easy to do.. Having said that, unless there is a difference between Zerk myth AE, and SK AE (melee for both), then the cone is moot, since it affects both equally.
As of right now SK's are OP and easy to play. They come with tons of AOE's for killing and holding mobs and are able to heal themselves. You'll have more fun tanking with a SK in your trio and he will bring more damage.I know that a healer bot will heal better than a person could (most times).
