Tutorials

Hey how goes it!?

Got a suggestion/offer of service:

Can we sticky some tutorials on the tutorial section i.e. how to use the radar function, how to use eq2bot and what each tab is for, what is getabilities and what it does etc....I've been sifting through pages of the forum and keep coming to either dead ends or outdated explanations......

Im the type who likes to come up with a solution or rather offer to help than to bitch and gripe. So if there is any documentation started or bits and pieces of notes for each of the functions ISXEQ2 provides, could you forward them to me and I'll be more than happy to put together a few tutorials and send them to you for approval.

I have a pretty good understanding of how the bots are setup, but there are some pieces of info missing to get a complete grasp of botting. Things like why are there two autofollows on eq2 bot and why to use one and not the other (which i just found out about recently ;-)).....I just think it would help all of us out if someone took the initiative (I wouldn't mind helping) to kinda streamline the information flow. It would save you all time of answering retarded questions from myself and be able to focus more on continuing with the awesome work you all are currently doing. Let me know what you think and I'll send you my email address if you want me to proceed.....Thanks!

Try reading the wikis for a general understanding of how ISXEQ2 and IS works, and then refer to the forum for more reading about more specific topics. The answers to most of the questions you stated can be found fairly easily; you will just have to look.

There is a wiki page for eq2bot, it hasn't been updated with the most recent changes, but lots of general knowledge there.

getabilities is a data mining script. It just creates an xml dump of all the abilities your toon has. I'm looking to have a level 80 of each class (and tradeskill class) run it and return the xml dumps to me.

I have a fairly good understanding how to set everything up. Im just thinking about the next person in line. I prob read ever single page of the forum, but it would be cool to have all the important data summed up together in a mini tutorial of some sort. Instead of having to sift thru several pages to find answers, just sticky one tutorial for each script and then update it as time comes. I would be more than happy to help with any of this...I'm not a script writer (Have a CS degree from several years ago but coding wasnt for me), but I am fairly decent in writing.

As far as get abilities goes, is runs in conjuction with eq2bot and crafter right? In other words, whenever I run eq2bot it sometimes says Im missing certain spells, so I run getabilities and it seems to go away after that....Am I in the right path?

Let me know what you think and like I said, I would be more than happy to help.

Eq2bot reports abilities that *might* be missing, just cause they are not in client ram when eq2bot started. It doesn't actualy prevent eq2bot from using them, as it will try to regardless, its more informative to the user to indicate they may be missing some upgrades.

Getabilties steps thru all abilities and fires an examine on them. This process will populate client ram with the details of all abilities, so yes if you ran it before eq2bot, you would likely not see the missing things there.

However, if you open your spell book and page thru all the pages, I think that will also populate the data in your client.

Neither action will actually affect how the bot works.

Getabilities was designed for the sole purpose of assisting me with collecting in game data for a project I may or may not release. If anyone is fealing generous, I'm looking for getability data from all classes, races, and tradeskills, so just run it and send me the abilities.xml in your xml dir (email: pygar@happyhacker.com)
