Ama, if you feel this post is in conflict with the greater good or controlling the discussion, please feel free to delete it. The following is my perspective:

DBG is owned by a private equity firm. In my RL, I deal with many PE firms and the management of their owned entities. What I can assure you is that these guys care about the bottom line more than anything else, whether they want to run the business as a going concern or sell it after 3-4 years.

I have 18 accounts; only one was suspended. I just cancelled the subscriptions on the other 17. My hope is that Ama & team figure out what is flagging the accounts, eliminate it, and I can go back to the only reason I play the game, which is to box instance content. If so, I'll reactivate the accounts.

I know you can't cancel a suspended account. But if you have other accounts and do as I did, the numbers will start to pile up. And when someone projects off that the monthly revenue loss plus game upgrade losses, they may look more closely at whether banning "ethical botting" (i.e., botting that does not infringe on other player's experience and does not generate any real-life financial benefit) is really a problem worth losing the associated revenue over. My guess is any rationale business person (and the PE guys are rationale) will continue the practice of just accepting there are people doing it and happily take the money. And if so, they may be more careful about suspensions in the future.

I say vote with your wallet/subscriptions, so DBG has a clearer picture of our impact. In the end, it's really the only lever we have that will be paid attention to.

I do agree with what you said about equity firms, but do feel that this wasn't directed at us. They were trying to stop the dupers/speed hackers. Dupes really destroy the game economy quickly and need to be stopped. We simply got caught on accident because we triggered their new auto ban criteria.

Things will get fixed and we will get back to normal *soon*.

Yes, I have read Ama's post and understand why we were affected. And I'm chill about all this, and hopeful it's just a speedbump. I'm just suggesting an easy way to help DBG management develop a better understanding of the impact our community has on the game's financial condition, so that they are more careful in the future to ensure they don't accidentally lose many of their biggest customers.

I'm so miffed at this whole situation. One account had its subs lapse as I was on vacation so I now have 5 accounts suspended and 1 banned.

I have petitioned to request the banned account be changed to suspended and I'd even play on Drunder if it meant I could have the account back. I hold out no hope though.

Its pretty much finished off eq2 for me. I guess I could start another account and replace the toons that were banned but I dunno.....

Edit: just read the update, it made me more upbeat. Fingers crossed.

I had 6 accounts. 2 were paid and 4 unpaid. The two that had subscriptions were suspended for 5 days but the 4 free ones were "terminated" which I assume means banned? To be honest, I am devastated to have lost these accounts as I don't have the money to buy expansions on four new accounts. I thought they were sending people to Drunder these days instead of banning them? Is there any way to get the accounts back? Loppy, you say you petitioned and I saw online where you can file a petition but it wants files from your computer. Essentially you have to prove that you weren't cheating, I guess. Is this what you did and just claimed you weren't cheating? What would be in the files they asked for? Thanks for any help with this. I'm disabled and playing eq2 is really all I have these days.

I opened a new account and submitted a ticket.

I basically grovelled a lot and begged Daybreak to reconsider the ban. Said I was a subscriber but subs had lapsed and would accept a drundering if I could have the account back.

I didn't attach any files so not sure petitioning will help in anyway.

I'd personally hold off doing anything until we see what we can do on a global level. Monday we should have an update. It's been tricky with the weekend.

Im gutted. I have 6 paid for accounts. 1 of the accounts didnt get picked up. 4 of them got the suspension and 1 of them has been terminated.

I dont understand why the 1 account was terminated when it had an active susbscription. I am gutted due to all the time I put into this account including buying the 100 million status neck etc

I have petioned and mentioned this is a paid account altho I dont expect the bastards at Daybreak to give a shit

I fear its the end of the game for meas i am unwilling to buy an expansion and level another toon and give those bastards any more of my hard earned cash.

Also at any point they could do the same thing again and terminate all accounts next time

Anyone who is appealing a full ban heard back yet? 2 of my 6 got full bans (all paid accounts, no priors) but I am wondering if it's a waste of time to appeal. Any feedback from others in same boat would be much appreciated.

Whatever happens people need to stop talking about and getting on their high horse about botting on the official forums.

Trying to get acceptance from the masses by airing dirty laundry is not sensible

The problem I see it is that everyone who had an account suspended is now flagged for their accounts terminating on the next offence. So basically if you ever bot again and Daybreak flag you again you lose everything. Unless they change their EULA to say using ISX etc is now acceptable and we all know that is not going to happen.

It looks like its a slippery road from here on

As stated in my previous posting, I'd prefer to keep conversations on IRC. Once the final information is available, I will post it in my announcement forum and then will be the time for discussion on the forums.

I will be deleting this thread soon. If it's appropriate in the future, I can undelete it.
