Crashing - Solution!

All of these issues should be resolved. Please use the latest live version of Innerspace.

If you started crashing lately (Innerspace patched and it caused an issue for some EQ2 folks). You can revert while the problem is worked on.

Here are the steps to revert.

Step 1: Close down all EQ2 sessions.
(Although if you are crashing, you likely don't have any open...)

Step 2: Disable patching on Innerspace.
Double click on Innerspace icon beside the clock.
UNCHECK (no red dot) the two boxes at the bottom (generally speaking, you won't have the first one checked, that is fine, just make sure both are unchecked now):
[_] Download development (test) patches
[_] Always patch at startup

Step 2: Close Innerspace
Right click on Innerspace icon beside the clock, and choose "Exit"

Step 3: Download a specific older version of Innerspace.
Go to this URL: Innerspace Archives
Select the link:
Inner Space 1.15 Build 6174
Extract this zip file into your /Innerspace/ directory and overwrite all your files. (This will only overwrite Innerspace files, it won't effect your profiles or anything like that).
Note: If you get permission denied, it likely means you installed Innerspace into your Program Files(x86) folder. Dealing with this is outside of the scope of this solution. The two easist solutions are to extract the files some where else, such as your Desktop, then copy them over. Or uninstall Innerspace and re-install it to a different folder, such as: C:\Games\Innerspace\

Step 4: Run Innerspace
When you run Innerspace, you're going to see the window from Step 2. You can ignore it and just close it. It is popping up to let you know there are new files available to be downloaded (in this case, you DO NOT WANT THEM).

Step 5: Reminder
Remember, once this is fixed, you will want to make sure you re-check [x] Always patch at start up.

Thanks for this. I couldn't find anyone still talking about it so I thought everyone was fixed and I was the only one still crashing. I did have to delete the old Innerspace files, extract to a folder on my desktop, and manually move all the extracted files in. I didn't realize that the (x86) folder is what denies permissions, even though I tried giving myself full control on that folder. Glad you're keeping us informed, it's much appreciated.

I did all these steps because I wasn't getting EQ2 to start at all (bypassing the launcher, that would run) - so I went under the assumption that it was crashing behind the scenes. Good news is that now it starts the session, bad news is that it dies due to a version mismatch. I'm figuring that has to do with the patch today but looking in IRC didn't indicate anything...

Thoughts?

This workaround no longer works as of the last couple of days.

EQ2 patched on Wednesday and now there is an ISXeq2 mismatch. I am assuming isqeq2 is still being worked on.

A mismatch is a difference between EQ2 and ISXEQ2. This is unrelated to Innerspace.

If you are getting a mismatch, patch EQ2 by running EQ2.exe in your /Everquest2/ folder (or as I do, by running eq2maps, then letting it open eq2).

Then load 1 instance, and ISXEQ2 will automatically patch.
I just did this this afternoon, so I can confirm it works as of a few hours ago. (I have also played some every day and has worked every day).

So I had the issues with the crashing and not loading past the first account. And I reloaded Inner Space... Now when I log in, I select my Character set and and it doesn't log to to the Splash screen. It is like I am logging in via EQ2 launcher.

How do I get back to loading Splash Screen, which already had my account names and was ready to go?

had no luck with either the rollback to 6174 or use of development patches. 6174 allows EQ2 to start but when the usual ext isxeq2, ext isxogre, and ogre commands are entered get an error that ogre needs isxeeq2....despite already successfully starting isxeq2. With the development patches enabled (now at 6208), just get a message about eq2 failing to load its required DLLs

I'm not going to spend any time trying to help with development builds, as things aren't working correctly.
Doing the steps in this post EXACTLY will revert you to 6174. Stay on that build until this thread is updated that it's safe to patch.

It didn't successfully start isxeq2 if you are getting that message.
Scroll up in the console to see why, or reload isxeq2 so the error/issue is at the bottom.
ext -unload isxeq2
ext isxeq2

I don't know what "reloaded innerspace" means.
I don't understand the second part either. Please be as exact and specific as you can, and feel free to use screen shots to help portray your issue. But unless it's specifically related to this crashing/reverting to 6174, you should start a new thread.

Note to self: pay more attention, didn't notice all the extra lines.....fyi was getting an isxgamespatcherexception message:

upload_2017-9-23_13-32-31.png

Forgot was trying a new anti-malware (ccleaner) and antivirus (trind maximum security). Ccleaner was preventing isxeq2 writing to one file or another (disabled ccleaner to play eq2 and everything now working fine). Everything works fine alongside Trend.

d'oh!

(by the way, thanks for the help!)

Anyone who reverted, should go ahead and update to the live version of Innerspace. If you have any problems after doing so, go ahead and post as much information as possible. Build 6219 (or later) seems to have cleared up all the issues.

Thanks Kannkor for providing all of these updates.

I went ahead and patched everything and am currently getting a standard everquest2.exe mismatch. I reparched EQ2 by running the loader and tried again, same issue. Guessing it's just bad timing and we had a regular update last night.

I reverted my everquest2.exe to the 9/22 version and isxeq2 and ogre seem to load properly, however EQ2 will not load as it is requesting to be patched.

It's a regular Tuesday forced patch right now. Update EQ2 and wait for ISXEQ2 to be updated.

I patched ISX to the most recent (build 6229) after reading the edited post saying it was okay to update. Oddly enough, after patching, Inner Space won't open more than two instances. I'm going to try rebooting my computer (since that's the first rule of pc-club), but it was a fresh reboot when I woke up today, so I don't know if that's what the issue is.

Edit: After reboot, I can only open one client. I don't know what's stopping the rest from opening.

Edit 2: After reverting back to build 6174, I can open all 6 windows again. I'm not sure what's going on. With the current version, one client opens, and then the rest of them show in the task manager as running, but only the first client window actually opens.

Everything you're talking about in this post is an InnerSpace issue and Lax does not read these forums I don't think. So, if you want them fixed, you'll need to go to the LavishSoft site/forums/etc.

The really weird part is, I run this on 3 machines, and only one of them is having this problem. I'm hoping I can just uninstall the whole thing and then copy it over from one of the other working machines. I wasn't aware that the problem I was having was something different than everyone else was having. Thanks for letting me know!

Edit update: The only thing that would get me running again on the current Inner Space build was to completely uninstall and do a fresh install in a different location on my hard drive. In any case, that's got me going again, and thanks for the temp work around till it was all fixed.

Eq2 is crashing, as of today, when I start it with Innerspace. It wasn't crashing yesterday. Could this be another issue like we had a last month?
