Judging by the lack of replies to threads etc am I right to assume ISXEve and the assorted bots (evebot, Astrobot) etc are all dead?

I'm obviously not going to resub to any of the prerequisites or these if they're no longer supported in any meaningful way.

That would be an incorrect assumption. There's just not typically a need to respond to threads because EVE, isxeve, and bots don't change very much. (In other words, playing the game today is almost identical to playing it 3-5 years ago.)

I'm pretty sure that all subscriptions offer a refund if you don't find it useful within a few days.
